| I was out for the first time this week, and I had pretty mixed results. I approached several sets, and had very little approach anxiety.
My first set was okay- there was an HB9 and a couple HB7s in the set. I was gaming the 9, I negged her twice, her interest piqued. Then my wing showed up and told a story that seemed to lull them a bit, and the obstacle started checking her phone and my target started looking around the club. I think the club is too distracting for long stories. They left to go find their friends after that, and I said to the HB9 I would find her later.
Next set. A group of 8 girls, with only one HB8, I engaged every girl in there besides the HB8. Then finally started paying attention to the target. I had a good conversation, and tried to keep the nearest obstacle engaged. I couldn't seem to isolate the target at all, and my wings didn't get the hint to allow me to isolate. After about a 20 minute conversation with the girls, they ended up leaving for the restroom. I ended up catching HB8 at the end of the night, and did number close- I just am not sure she will respond to my text.
I approached a two set with an HB9 and an HB8. The HB8 bailed after a couple minutes, which was perfect because I was able to stick with the HB9. I ended up talking to her for 15 minutes, demonstrated higher value with a routine. We had the same major in common-I took this as a good sign. Anyway, her friend ended up coming back and they were off pretty quickly- she asked me to come find her later and I wasn't able to.
We ended up changing locations to move to a more target rich environment. This paid off, I recognized a girl inviting me to approach with a "proximity alert" she was standing near me seeming lost, so I asked her if she was. Then I began stacking openers on her and building a connection. I found out she was 24, and I am only 21, this seemed a little off putting to her since she told me that I looked older. I used the neg that she probably couldn't keep up with me. I ended up number closing.
We ended up moving locations again, and after a few minutes, we got another proximity alert- this time it was two HB9s. I quickly opened them, and they were interested at first. I did a DHV and a neg. Then they made a comment about me and my friend being gay, and we went along with it in a sarcastic manner, but they seemed to think it was for real. Then they seemed to lose interest and left.
All in all, it was a pretty mixed night- I feel like my approach anxiety is disappearing, or at least I know how to manage it a lot better. 7 or 8 sets were approached (these were the most memorable), and two number closes. I feel like I was able to carry a conversation better than previous nights, and more consistently. Stacking openers has helped me with that. I am not quite there yet.
