Hello All,

Please critique me and let me know what you liked and what i could have done better (be specific!). Don't worry about tearing me apart, i welcome the advice!

I am new to this forum and new to the "game". This is my first field test since learning about the specific techniques of the game (i learned about the game as a set of guidelines earlier this week).

I got a little peacocked and went flightless (i'm not sure if there is an actual term for going without a wing, so until i am corrected i will use this) to a Karaoke bar tonight in downtown Bakersfield. I wanted to start off easy so i picked a HB8 as my first real test subject.

I didn't approach directly and opened with something pretty lame (i forget exactly what was said... it was pretty forgettable) and made small talk with the others at the table for a bit while not really acknowledging her but standing directly in her line of view and turning my body towards her but rarely facing her. then i neged her a couple of times (stuff like "you didn't put quite enough 'twang' in that song, but you really have a beautiful voice none-the-less") and she was seeming pretty into me. Before i could really isolate her one of her friends came into the bar so i made some comment that i left hanging and walked to the back to play some pool (fortunately i found a partner back there, just an AFC). After just a minute she followed and sat by the table we were at and tried to pull me away from the game (pool). I gave her enough attention to keep her from leaving, but i never turned directly at her (i would talk while lining up a shot or lean against the table and look across my shoulder at her). After the game was over i sat by her at the table (we were in a pretty isolated part of the bar) and went for some more IOI's. (this next part was my best move of the evening) I was sitting next to her with my foot crossed over my knee towards her. Then i brought the conversation to some little scars on my hands. I held out my left hand to show her one and she took it in hers. Then (because her hand was already in mine) i asked if she had any on her hands. As i listened to some story about a tiny scar, i set her hand on my leg. After a minute she removed it and i promptly crossed my leg in the other direction, away from her. When i did this she immediately grabbed my hand again and rested brought out hands back down to my leg (major IOI) so as a reward i crossed them back toward her. We made small talk for another minute or two and she asked if she could go freshen up and made me promise to wait. I waited, but switched tables to one that faced away from the direction that she had gone (i'm not sure if this made any real difference, but oh well). She returned momentarily and sat real close to me and rested her head on my shoulder. After a bit more small talk i said that i didn't want her falling asleep and suggested that she could use some fresh air. She then asked if i wanted to go on a walk. We walked around the block and then to her car. Here i really messed up. I number-closed and she invited me to this party with her tomorrow.

I should have kiss-closed or gone for the f-close (i was too nervous to pull a kiss-close or anything i guess). Maybe tomorrow. Another thing that bothers me is that this took over an hour to complete.

I think you did pretty well. And don't worry , about not k-close or f-close . If you don't feel liek ready , don't force it.

You ahve to be ready and comfortable with yourself before you make that move , I guess You can manage a good K-Close and maybe more . But Work on your inner game , your confidence ...

Looks like you did very well, especially for your first time in the field. Don't dwell on the fact that you didn't k-close. She was into you, that's what matters. After all, she invited you to a party at her place. You're definitely on the right track. Set goals for yourself each night and try to reach them, improving each night. Additionally, don't be discouraged that it took an hour. Honestly, did you think it would just happen? It takes time, concentration, and effort. What's surprised me the most so far is how easy it actually is once you get over the initial hump of actually approaching a stranger. Well, there are my thoughts. I'll be posting a field report about my outing tonight, so keep an eye out for it.
