*Before I start, I just want to say that before tonight I had never cold approached more than a handful of times in my life. I kept my game to parties, my social circles, and the classroom. So this was a HUGE step for my night game! Plus I'm 20, so it was nice to find a decent 18+ place.*
We kicked off the night by piling into Yenwen’s living room, who was busy handing out water bottles and makeshift chairs to anyone who was in need. The four guys from Casanova Crew were sitting on the couch against the wall, while the rest of us sat on chairs and couches in a circle around them. We went around the circle giving each guy a chance to tell his story and his background on game. We went over some basic material, got some tips on how to get our group going, and listened to the guys from CC tell us some great stories about their sarging experiences.
All in all, the meeting was really fun, it got me pumped up and ready to go out for the night. Also, with some of their tips, I think our group will come together nicely and hopefully be a great compliment to Casanova Crew.
The meeting ran a little overboard, but it was a good time and everyone was really cool so it was no big deal. We loaded up into our cars, sans J the Ripper, and headed over to Incahoots. Hydro rode shotgun in my truck, we parked, and walked in with (if I remember right) Jacket, Kong, and Gotham. I wasn’t nervous about approaching tonight at all. Not at the meeting, not on the drive over, not while I paid the 10$ cover, or even when I handed my little orange ticket to the guy at the door. When I walked in through the front door and saw all those people, all those sets standing around having a great time, it hit me like a wall: NERVOUS!
Kong was impressive though, we walk through the door, and I didn’t even notice him slip away from us until I saw him taking over this big 5 or 6 set near the bar. Without missing a beat, he just went from walking in, and BAM in a set. I was baffled with how quickly he jumped into a set, but impressed. I needed a smoke.
I head out to the smoker’s patio with Basic, and Yenwen, where we light up a coffin nail and shoot the breeze about how cool Incahoots seems and how much fun we’re gonna have tonight. Yenwen takes off for just a minute, leaving Basic and I outside, cigarettes in hand, when I entered my first set of the night:
Two set, HBDayCare(7ish) and HBKeys(7.5):
HBDC: Hey, sorry to interrupt you guys, but do either of you have a lighter?
Muse: *Surprised since they opened from behind* A light huh? I don’t know… Do you two have names?(Ehh not my strongest, but the CC guys helped me fix it later)
-We all introduce ourselves handshakes and whatever-
I tell them that it’s mine and Basic’s first time here and we were just wondering what the best part about the place was. We bantered about that for a minute, I don’t quite remember what was said that lead me into the next part:
Muse: I’ve already got this feeling from you guys, I can already tell *points to HBK * You’re the bad one of the two *Points to HBDC* and you’re the nice one.
HBK: What?! OMG I’m not the bad one, its HER*Points to HBDC*
HBDC: *while placing her hand on my upper arm* It’s true, I’m the bad one!
Muse: I don’t believe you guys –interrupted by Yenwen entering set with huge energy-
Yenwen: Hey guys you just met a couple of the coolest guys here!
HBDC: Whoa you guys have a lot of friends here, are you guys like a dance group or something?
Yenwen: Nah, we’re a boy band! *points to me* And he's the badass of the group!
We talked about that, and had some other fun conversation for a few minutes, then ejected - Just a warm up set - and it was really fun! I sat there thinking to myself “Christ on a cruch! THAT’S what I’ve been afraid of all this time? They were cool, and that was really fun! It’s just like meeting people at a big party!”
A few minutes later and another set comes my way, this time I’m with Jack, Yenwen, and a couple of the other guys who came too. Two blondes come running outside and one smacks Jack on the ass and opens him. “Must be friends of his, I can tell they’re off limits” I thought to myself, as Jack introduced me. We had some fun conversation for a few minutes, and they turn out to be some cool girls who social proofed me while I was in set a little later on. All of the sudden two more of Jack’s girl friends come outside and open him up.
Jack introduces me to HBBlackHair(I'll give her an 8. ) and HBEarrings(Dont remember a rating haha):
*HBBH goes in for a handshake as she states her name*
Muse: *waving my hand* No, no, see I don’t do handshakes when I meet people. Bring it in for a hug!
HBBH: Ohh I see, it’s like that *huge smile on her face, gives me a BIG hug*
Muse: Yeah, it’s like that.
HBE: Hi, I’m –
Muse: Ahh ahh, I told you guys I don’t do handshakes, you’re no exception!
HBE: *gives me a smile and another BIG hug*
I remember talking with HBBH and HBE with Jack, Yenwen, and eventually Malta, for a few minutes and it went pretty well, no idea what was said though.
I wasn’t sure how opening with a hug like this would go over, but I got GREAT results with it. I used it on two other sets that night, and I realized how much girls LOVE to give hugs(seems like strangers are no different from your girl friends, they all love hugs). On top of that, I didn’t get any fake side-hugs or anything; they were genuine, full-on, hugs. They didn’t want to let go, and after we left the club is when it hit me how to respond C+F to that. I practically slapped myself for not seeing the opportunity before, but I'll do it next time!
After my encounter with HBBH and HBE, I head inside spotting Hydro alone in a three-set! Go Hydro! I see he’s got them hooked so I take that as my cue to help him out with the obstacles. I head in, he introduces me and we talk each other up a bit. I start talking to HBNoTits(7ish) + HBStrangeLips(I'll give her a 6.25). We’re bantering back and forth, I neg, and get her to qualify.
At this point Yenwen comes in and occupies HBSL. HBNT and I start talking about dancing (It’s a line dancing night every Wednesday at this place, very popular apparently.) and she offers to teach me some moves. I took the opportunity and learned a little bit about two-step, having fun in the process with my new friend.
HBNT: You HAVE to come dance with me sometime if you come back here.
Muse: Hmm, well I don’t know enough yet. You’d have to teach me a few more sweet dance moves. If you play your cards right, maybe I’ll dance with you.
HBNT: If I play my cards right huh? Dang, I’m no good at poker.
Muse: Ha, we’ll see about that. *Should have #Closed this one, the IOI’s were there and an invitation to dance when I see her again. Damn it, I was retarded. Should have closed it.*
Hydro ejected from the set, which still seemed pretty warm, but keeping with good wing rules Yenwen and I assumed he got blown out. We ejected as well.
At one point I entered a mixed three set with Malta, and realized I still have SO much to learn. It’s ridiculous. I saw all three of the Casanova Crew guys at work in there. They are really damn good compared to where I’m at, like another level of awesome. I have no idea how they can be so witty and quick when they're in a set! Something to strive toward.
Outside in the smoker’s patio, I was just getting ready to head back in when HBBlackHair spots me and opens me again. After a few minutes of talking, getting her to qualify herself, and so forth, I realized something:
Muse: You look REALLY familiar, where do I know you from?
HBBH: Umm, I donno, but you look familiar to me too! I was thinking the same thing just now!
Muse: Let’s see… Do you go to _______ University with me?
HBBH: OMG! Yeah, I do! Wow that’s crazy!
Muse: Yeahhh! Now I know why you look so familiar! We talked on myspace before!
HBBH: NO way, Yeah you’re right! Wow!
Turns out I had met her on myspace a few months ago, and we were supposed to grab lunch together one day at school, but we both got busy and forgot about it. So here’s how I rectified that:
HBBH: OMG, I can’t believe we never got together for lunch! I feel like such an asshole!
Muse: *Pulls the cell out of its cozy nest deep within a jean pocket* Well then, you know what to do.
HBBH: *Punches in her number* Yeah, Call me and we’ll do something! I call her so that she has my number, and to make sure it was real. Cool, it checks out.
All of the sudden someone she knows calls her name, she tells me she’ll be right back.
“Fuck that!” I said under my breath, as I walked back into the club approaching a new set. I wasn't gonna wait around like some poor schmuck for her to have a convo with someone else.
After about 10 minutes, I head back to the smoker’s patio as I noticed most of the guys were hanging out shooting the shit in a big circle. I get into the conversation with them, light up a coffin nail, when all of the sudden I get this sensation like small rocks being tossed at my stomach.
Muse: *Surprised face as I turn towards the source of tiny fists being shoved into my flesh* “What the…?”
HBBH: Where did you go?! We were having such a GOOD conversation! I can’t believe you just walked away from me!
Muse: Hey now, you left to go talk to your friend, so while you were busy with that I went inside to make some more friends.
HBBH: Blah blah, so we’re going to do something right?
Muse: Yeah, soon as school starts up again, we should do lunch. (Whatever, wasn't thinking right, school's a month away! I'll call her sooner.) It’s SO on between you and me.
HBBH: Awesome. yeah, it is SO on!
Not long after that a lot of the guys were getting ready to go, I was Hydro’s ride back. We were both getting ready to take off when Niceguy pulled us aside telling us he wanted to see the two of us open one more set before we left. Hydro went in first, I talked to Niceguy while I gave Hydro a little time to hook them. Then I went in, it was cool for a minute, but one of the girls’ body language was totally off. She kept her back to us, even when we tried to engage all three. Kong came over to help us out, with some prodding from Niceguy, and it was working to an extent but Hydro ejected(It's cool man I wasn't feeling those girls either). After that the body language of the girls just got worse, so Kong and I ejected too. Oh well, those chicks didn't want to have a good time then fuck 'em!
So yeah, that’s my REALLY long Field Report from last night at Incahoots. Hope you guys got through it. I know a lot of the details were left out, some because I don’t remember, and others because they just weren’t all that important. Although I did have a few good lines and conversations that got me IOI’s and punches on the arm, etc.
Overall good night. My first impression of all these guys: They are all really cool guys and are just a fun group to hang out with. I would be in set, having the time of my life and I would look around the club: Hydro would be learning dance moves from some girl, Mantis would have his scarf around a chick(nice move btw), Kong would be owning a set, Yenwen was running around being a party animal and getting into sets like a madman, Jack would be dancing his ass off, Niceguy and Joker would be in sets while Malta had Jack’s friend isolated out on the smokers patio (looked like a deep convo! Nice job with the #close, Malta.) We owned that place last night! I have no soapbox to stand on, but I’m proud of each and every one of you guys. You all did awesome, and I had an amazing time. I’m looking forward to sarging some more with you all soon!
Some specific things I wanna say:
-Casanova Crew guys really know their shit and are really, really helpful and motivational.
- Yenwen was my favorite wing of the night. He was so high energy and so motivational! His motto last night was to be the party in the club, and bring everyone else into it, and god damn did he do a great job. You’re an animal, Matt, keep it up dude.
- Jack. Didn’t see a whole lot of him because he was busy dancing the night away. He was the king of the club last night though. He had all of us, AND his regular friends as well. Talk about social proof! Nice man. I think you had the best time out of all of us.
- Kong, you’re a BEAST! You’re fearless man, and that’s awesome. Almost every time I saw you, you were running game on some set or another. Heard you even opened a set or two at Denny's afterward. Good work, bud! I have a lot to learn from you, I can sense that.
- Everybody else, Great night guys, I can't wait to get to know you all better and get out there in field together.
