My friend and I have been frequenting a savage Irish bar in central London. We figure it's ripe for the picking and they play Ireland matches there so it's the best of both worlds.

Since I've started going there I don't think I've come away without at least one number or email a night. The problem is it's not huge so I usually don't go looking for another after I've gotten one from an 7 or better.

This night we were doing our usual, bouncing from floor to floor after the Ireland V France match was canceled. Opening sets taking it in turns. I opened the first 3 but I wasn't doing great so I insisted my friend the next few. First set he opened he seemed to be doing pretty well and her friends were coming up with one word replies to whatever I'd say. I was getting pretty bored so I pointed across the room to a couple of girls on their own and said to my friend I was heading over there to make some friends. But as soon as I got there they were already being hit on. On I went.

Downstairs I ordered a G&T and looked to my favourite spot, behind this screen that's a little hidden away. Something about snugs, dark corners and hidden spots seems to attract groups of girls without guys (my number one favourite type of set). There I saw this hottie HB 9 or 10. So I sat down and asked what she was doing all alone on a Saturday night/Did she see the match/Where's she from Auzzie or New Zealand/how I'd nearly been assaulted after getting that wrong before. She had this shy demeanor yet wasn't afraid to show this beautiful smile and I had her cracking up. She could hold her own in a conversation too her shyness didn't seem to affect her speech. After a couple of minutes of chatting I engaged her in a thumb war/got mock upset with her and had mock fisticuffs with her.

Here her friend returns, a bit of a hound. So I start engaging the friend. Then I turn back saying we're kind of alienating Hanna over there, anyway I was thinking of taking her to the natural history museum on the weekend do you think I should ask for her number or email address so I can add her on facebook. Her friend says 'definitely phone number', I ask for the email. But then realise that I've had difficultues with finding people on facebook before return 10 minutes later for a phone number.

The stumble:
Later that night upstairs in the nightclubby part I tried calling a friend. Couldn't really hear him and was shouting down the phone at him 'Where are you you bollix, I haven't seen you in ages, did you score?'. This continued for a minute or so, then I realised it was a girl's voice coming back down the phone, when the music got quieter. THEN I realised it was Hanna I'd called not my friend. She txt back saying 'you called' I txt back saying 'Sorry, trying to find friend, I'll call you tomorrow.'

The following is the summary of our communication since Saturday.

Sunday 19.45 Me
I'll ring tomorrow haven't been home yet o:) < so I didn't seem like a jerk for not calling when I said I would.>

Monday 1500 or so Me
3 phone calls to her all unanswered.

Monday 1534 Me
Hey Missus, tried calling but alas to no avail. You know I saw you again later that night in the pub upstairs but hid from you.

Monday 1850 Her
that would be because Ive been at work all day. Sorry to dissapoint sir bit I dont think that was me in the pub after. I went home after your epic fail of a thumb war attempt. So you were hiding from the wrong girl.

Monday 1855 Me
I was still hiding from you even if it wasn't you. I felt drunk, figured I'd surely make an ass of myself.

Was I really that scary?

Monday 1940 Me
Ferocious. I'm about to head out. What time should I call tomorrow?


Radio silence since then. I'll post this txt convo on a seperate thread as well as I've a feeling following the long ass story it follows less people are likely to read it and give me an analysis.
