Man, sometimes i got it and sometimes i dont. I just did a bad crash and burn!

After a good black friday of Sarging and shoping at the mall, i headed over to fridays to get a bite to eat. I sit at the bar....to my right there is an empty seat with a jacket on it, then a hb5.5, and a UG. I figure the empy seat must have at least a 8 at it. Then, from the bathroom, comes the girl, a pretty blonde, hb8. Perfect.

The seats were very close, so it was easy to open with just about nothing. We talk about her job for a few mins, then she turns back to her friends and talks with them.....figure that was a definate IOD so i start thinking of negs. Right about then the bartender comes up to them to get a drink order. They cant seem to decide and the bartender is getting tired of standing there waiting for these indecisive girls, so i look at him "Ill take a water while the indecisive girls think about what they want". Figured it would be a good neg and get me my water, but the 8 looks back at me with a look that looked like i just killed her dog or somthing. it was bad. I just laughed to try to keep the confidence going but i dont think it worked. I finished my food (very awkward at that point) and left.

I guess i made a major boo boo with that neg, i guess it was kinda rude.

I would say you should've sparked the group's interest early on. Run some kind of a routine, or at least talk about something that would be more interesting than a job. I don't think your neg was too bad at all. I could see it working pretty well most of the time. If I had to guess I would say it wasn't the neg itself but the conversation before that put you in a poor position.

Well, all I would have done different is "pull" her back after you just "pushed" her. Ask her "what's wrong? I was just enjoying a nice conversation with you and you're staring at me all crazy?"
push pull seems to work well if you're smooth enough

yeh man i agree with toolfan, it was your conversation before that probbably f'd it up, the great part about having a UG5.5 and a UG in a three set which i often forget to capitalise on (lol) is that they will literally eat up your routines and give you great social proof and preselection...if you also ignore/neg the HB8 and impress the other two, she should be all over you, trying to qualify herself to you!

and remember not to take it all to harshly, it was just the HB8's bitch shield, trying to cover up that probbaly quite shy, little girl inside

Yea man, i definatly dont let anything in this area get me down, its just a game after all, its always fun!

I have opening and closing down pat, i can open without using a caned opener most of the time and get smiles just by making somthing up on the fly. The only time i have problems with opening is with a Bitchy girl that gives an imeadiate shit test. For instance the other night i opened and got a "i really dont care about that....or your friend". Thats a hard one to counter. But other than that im good at opening.

My problems seem to be the middle, after opening but before closing, sometimes i run a routine and do well, other times i dont.
