| Second night out sarging with two wings. One guy a total AFC who I've told a lot about the theory behind female psychology as I understand it from what I've read, but needs to get over his AA. And one guy...oh my god. This guy has never read anything about how to be a PUA. Nothing. He's not even that good looking but, for some reason, everything he tells me about how he approaches women has a complete explanation in classic PUA theory and methods such as Mystery, Style, Tyler, Jeffries and everything.
Anyway. My last FR described my halloween night, where I basically completely got over my AA and opened a lot of sets real well, had them laughing, getting some IOIs, but I didn't get it to the next level - no kino escalation, no isolation, and no #closes. I thought this second night out would be a great opportunity to try that stuff out and advance my game a bit.
The opener I used to great effect on halloween was basically, "can you settle a bet. Two guys goto a party, one with a horse mask the other with a scream mask. Which one is better and why?" I thought it was good cuz then after opening and getting some input, I could then launch into the actual story of me and my friend doing this, at which point my wing could come over and be introduced as, "the guy who wore mask x." Well, this opener didn't exactly go down as well Friday night as it had on Wednesday. My first approach was a 2-set, one HB9 One HB8.5, both blondes. I guess maybe I shouldn't have started with such a challenge my first approach of the evening.
ME: "can you settle bet, horse scream, etc."
HB8.5: "they're both stupid"
ME: "oh yeah well if they're so stupid what were you guys?"
HB9: "I was a naughty nurse"
HB8.5: "I was the other girl"
ME: "Other girl? I don't even understand what that means. *some neg, not much reaction* The reason is, me and my buddy went to this party, and I wore scream and he wore horse and we had tons of girls coming up to us (is this good DHV?) wanting to stroke the horse and shit, but people were totally freaked out by the scream, leaving me looking like a shmuck.
HB9: Aaaw, I would have picked the scream (smiles and looks at HB8.5)
HB8.5: Yeah me too.
Now, first of all, is the last part about me getting weird looks DLV? It usually gets a laugh. Secondly, the girls had initially said both masks were stupid, but were now both agreeing that mine was the best. Is this a good sign or does it mean nothing at all?
Anyway, my wing was supposed to come over at this point but he was distracted with something, so I didn't get the opportunity to introduce him and hopefully keep the set going. It basically ended.
ME: "Well thank you. Finally, someone likes the scream mask too."
HBs: "Well good luck settling that bet anyway..." (turn away a little and say something to each other)
ME; "Thanks, good meeting you" exit set.
I didn't know how to keep the set going. Any ideas?
At the next bar I opened a 2-set, one HB6, one HB7, both asian, mainly for practice as I didn't really have any interest in them. Same opener, really opened the set nicely. Say I bet I can guess which country they are from. Narrow it down to 3, and then this is what happens
HB7: If you guess right she'll buy you a drink (pointing to HB6), and if you guess wrong you have to buy her one.
Now, to me, there's a lot in this. Firstly, whoever wins, it seems like this is an IOI because the assumption is I'm to stay with them while the drink is purchased and drunk, right? Secondly, the HB7, who is the target, I have been ignoring as soon as I opened. Does this mean she's acting as if I'm actually more interested in her friend than her? If she was really working to win my approval, however, why wouldn't she say buy *her* the drink, not her friend?
Anyway, I got the right region and demanded my drink, then negged the target to the obstacle for getting her friend into debt to me, which went down well. Once we established the country they were actually from, I then tried the best friends test, which they were totally uninterested in the results of, which really threw me off, casually remarking that they were, in fact, cousins (I had revealed them as being good friends after eye contact before answering the question). I exited soon afterwards.
I guess a few questions. The HB7 from the asian 2-set revealed that she was a devil for halloween. I was thinking about running Tyler's devil+angel routine, but I didn't think I'd built enough attraction. When's a good point to run this? Secondly, it is a smart move to use a neg as an opener? I was thinking about opening with
ME: Hey why are you wearing that ridiculous outfit - you know halloween was two days ago, right?
HB: This isn't a costume!
ME: Oh, those are your normal clothes...well I guess they look ok.
Finally, I felt like I had trouble transitioning from opener material to getting some attraction going. A lot of sets I opened, we dwelt too long on the halloween thing and there wasn't anything from their responses that I could obviously pick up on to lead the conversation towards anything good.
Thoughts?
