The starting venue for this field report started at a bar that was divided into two areas; one room with a DJ, a dance floor, and a bar, and one room with quieter bar area. I was there conversing with a group of friends at a table (in the quieter room), a mix of girls and guys, when I spotted these two girls sitting near us conversing with each other at a booth. To make it seem like a natural approach I walked to the other side of the bar and came back. Upon reaching the table I asked the table about what kind of wine they were drinking. They said "Its from Chile". This is when I said, "I only ask because I just visited a bunch of wineries yesterday and learned the fundamentals of wine." After this, I had asked them if they new about the cause of "legs" on the glass.. they said no, and I replied that it was due to surface tension, and that I am actually an engineer so I dig that geeky stuff. At this point, I told them I had to get back to my friends so I did. After another 10 minutes or so, some friends and I wanted to go to the dance floor; therefore, on the way to the dance floor as I passed there table I told them they should go dance! Ten minutes later I see them walk by me on the dance floor.... missed my chance. Another 10 minutes pass and they happened to move right in my field of vision 5 feet away. With this opportunity I went up to one, held out my hand, spun her around. Then she told me to do the same with her friend (who was actually better looking). So I did, and I continued to dance next them (the music was not grinding music), intermittently saying things to her (touching her back each time). After 5-10 minutes, she told me that she was new to the city, so I told her she should give me her number so I can show her around sometime. So she did. After about another 5 minutes (had been dancing for 15-20 minutes now) I asked her if she wanted a drink. She replied yes, and we went to the quieter bar room (I took her hand and lead her to the other bar); however, when we got there the lights popped on and she needed to walk her friend out. So she did, and after this she came back. At this point everyone was leaving so I told her I would walk her home. As we were leaving I told my friends that I was going to walk her home. As we got to her place she stopped on the opposite side of the street of her place and said this was her place and stood there. I gestured her to cross then, and we did, and at the door I went in for a kiss and she gave me her cheek. This kind of through me off, so I said goodbye and headed out.
The next day I texted her, saying my name and that last night was fun and that we should definitely hit up a festival or something sometime. She did not respond, I'll probably text her again closer to the weekend.
I have ideas as to what I did wrong; however, I am not going to mention them since I would not like to bias anyone's feedback.
