Last night was going to be my first official night of sarging. Wednesday nights are $5 martinis at a local upscaled bar so I decided what better place to find HB7s and up. (side note: it had been storming earlier in the evening) However, when I got there the were only 2 females there, 1 of which was maybe a HB7. 1 with an obvious partner and the other possibly the same, except there were about 4 other guys around her. I walked in with a smile on my face and a couple openers ready. but when I walked in to find a dead house I froze up and walked to the bar. Waiting to see if any other HBs would show up I ordered a water and watched old episodes of Popeye cartoons on the 48" flat screen on the adjacent wall. I finished my water and used my cell phone to get me out of the bar. I left defeated and went to another bar were my friends usually hangout.

I wouldn't say I'm a shy guy but thats because I can have fun and be loud when I'm around friends but I can't bring myself to approach and interact with strangers. Sarging alone with out a wing is very difficult, I suspect.

If you need words of encouragement, I've only been a rAFC for 2 weeks and i've sarged a bit without a wing. It's definately harder but you can do it. I find my biggest problem is that I'm used to saying things like "i'm here with friends" and I do it even when i'm alone because it just comes out :)
Actually i've since noticed that even when I am out with friends I tend to send them away and open sets solo anyway because I find it easier to open sets alone and bring my wing in later. It's almost like sarging alone, but with the confidence that you actually have a wing.
What I liked when sarging alone, was if it wasn't going well at one venue, I could just bounce to a fresh one and try to walk in like I owned the place and follow the 3 second rule. When that went stale I bounced from there.
