So I went sarging alone at a local dance club. As I walked in to the club I saw a 2-set sitting at a table, but hesitated. Set gone. Walked to the bar and a got a beer. Kind of walked around a little, but noticed that I would stand out very soon doing that because the club wasn’t crowded. So I opened a 2 set (HB7 and HB8 ), eventually topic got to how they know each other, which they said they worked at Hooters. In retrospect I could’ve done a lot more with that (ideas on what you would've said?) HB8 gave some IOI's but had to leave the set when they got distracted with a couple of friends.
My nerves got to me a little at this point, but after a few minutes I opened a 2 set (HB6 and HB7) that was standing right off the dance floor looking at it. ‘Why aren’t you dancing?’ I found this worked better than ‘Which one of you is going to dance with me first?’ A little small talk and then the HB6 asked what my name was (IOI). Introduced myself and they left shortly after. So I opened a 4 set of guys right behind me to still look social….they were talking about ‘getting some ass’ but were standing around drinking beer and looking at everyone. Could tell they were total AFC’s (gave me even more motivation to practice so I don’t act like that) I had some AA but opened a 4-set of girls. I started on the opener but one of the girls gave me a ‘creeped out’ look and took their little posse about 5 feet over to end the conversation. Who cares… overall the night went well. In giving credit to AFC Daniel's style of FR, going to reflect on what happened:
- This night helped me realize that rejection really doesn’t matter, and I truly feel that I care less about the outcome now even after this one night.
- I am still missing opportunities because of AA, but it is much better. I opened 3 sets and probably missed the chance to open 2 more… a lot better than I have previously been doing.
- Need to work on conversation, teasing, etc. after the opener. However, my openers are improving. My biggest sticking point now is maintaining interest after opening.
