| COMMENTS/CRITICISM/SUGGESTIONS ALWAYS APPRECIATED
Went out with Crowne last night in Bouder, wore some cheap ass (funny) bling and a pupped collar with a jacket.
I opened somewhere between 7 and 10 sets, and while I never got any harsh blow outs, I didn't progress well into A3 in a single set. I didn't want to write this field report, as a result, but obviously this is the most important type of field report for self improvement.
Anyway, I gotta Keep On Keepin' On. I am improving. I'll post a couple significant sets here.
Set 1
The first set of the night was at Red Fish (which is apparently bumpin on thursdays). Crowne and I sat at the end of a table at the back of the venue. I spotted an HB7.5 nHB6 two set standing, and I opened with kiss (accidentally, meant to open with nude beach). I got slightly flustered with my opener, but I finished it and laid my FTC.
They were happy to give their opinions. I began plowing to my obstacle (Crowne told me last my body language still said "target") but my target seemed to get bored and turn. I switched back to my target while Crowne took my obstacle, but target wasn't interested. We lost them and the set walked off with some guy friends who arrived.
What went wrong?: Normally when something goes wrong, it's because I didn't plow. Here I plowed, but I didn't really get to my DHV spikes. I also played this group dynamic wrong. I should note I failed to really neg her too. I really need a more experienced guy to help me properly distribute my attention in a 2+ set.
Set 2
Crowne and I chilled until we saw another two set (nHB6, HB7), standing about 10 feet away. I approached and opened, commenting on how one of the girls was holding two beers. She laughed, I teased her, brought Crowne in. He negs her. I try to bridge to my A2 material by talking about drinking standards, I fail to get to my DHV spikes, they get bored.
The target touches me when I ignore her, but I blow a chance to neg her on it because I'm mid sentence. Instead I just pull my arm away. They give a little girl code, I make a last ditch effort to stack a routine, but they blow us out.
What went wrong?: I didn't get to my A2 spikes, again, I failed a good chance to neg. I was all over the place with body language and attention. I really need to focus.
Set 3
Set 3 was weird. We bounced to the Walrus, and Crowne and I both spotted different sets we wanted to open. We split up (he came back after her got blown out), and I took a 4 set with a latina HB8 target.
I open with an off the top of my head line of "what foreign accent is the sexiest?" On Crowne's advice, I completely dropped "hey I need a female opinion on something." It seemed to hook well with the obstacles, but the target seemed uninterested. I started to DHV about International-ness, multi-lingualism etc. At some point, target wanted to talk, and I got her to turn her body language 180 degrees. Target said she'd heard about international coffee hour but never been. I asked her if she was afraid of internationals and she said "what? I'm not white." Neg time.
I started to neg her to her (all white friends) about being a hater, and that I never said anything about her being white. Went over like a charm, everyone laughing. Here's where I blew it. I stayed on the neg too long (instead of throw and go), and when the laugh was over, I turned back to my target and went into A3 questions. I noticed she was uninterested, but I kept pushing my A3. I neg'd her again, she jumped through one A3 hoop, but she at this point told me she was really drunk. Then body languaged me out and we ejected.
What went wrong?: Again, my group dynamics suck. I was too focused on my target. I should have DHV'd even more, and waited for some real IOIs before going into A3.
Set 4
Needless to say all this (plus running into a hater-ex) put me a bit out-of-state. But I wasn't giving up, and I knew I needed to put in some work tonight. I'd say this was about my 8th set or so. I spotted a cute HB8.5, in a two set. Accents opener (from above), hooked well, I brought in wing, and he took the obstacle away wonderfully! But another girl joined the set and now I was dealing with a two set.
I DHV a bit, she seems to be buying it, listening, but her buying temp isn't going up. I noticed her arms were folded, and I made the mistake of physically unfolding them myself. This made her uncomfortable. I tried to go into Dodgers' fingers IVD, but it failed (my fault). The obstacle seemed to be interested in me, and here's where things got weird.
Target tried to eject, but obstacle wouldn't let her because she wanted to talk to me. I felt weird, and ejected.
What went wrong?: Aside from the fact that I shouldn't have ejected because I felt weird, I failed to neg my target or lay an FTC. I also made the mistake of initiating kino in a semi-aggressive way, and it blew me out. I should have raised buying temp first.
On the Night
Despite that nothing really worked tonight, I actually didn't have a bad time. I'm glad I wrote out this FR, and I know that I can learn from it.
Big points were; work on group dynamic, don't forget to Neg, raise buying temp and the big one of the night...
Hit my DHV spikes early and often. _________________ Check out my PUA blog:
