So instead of making some generic sob story I thought I'd briefly explain what happened last week and more importantly I need advice for handling scenarios like this in the future.

I went to a club with a group of about 7 friends, male and female. At the bar I saw a girl I knew from college (in the UK) who sat by me in psychology class. I'm not really a PUA but in that class I came across well. I always knew she was interested but not attracted, there's a key difference. I think this was due to my intelligence, quietness (not shy, quiet) and generally mysterious nature. She often seemed intrigued by me and sometimes threatened by my differentness. For the record she was quite hot but I wasn't really interested. Anyway here's what happened.

*At the bar*
Her: Hey Darren! - Smiling/waving.
Me: Hey! - Smiling/waving.

*2 hours later on the floor - and me being quite tipsy*
Her: Hey! come dance with me.
Me: What? - It was really loud.
Her: Come dance with me.
Me: Ok yeah.
-Friend comes over-
Her: who's he?
Me: My friend.
-Friend leaves.
Her: You're too clever to be drunk.
Me: Yeah.

*Slowly dance away from her* - Had to leave early for work next morning - may have esculated?

I'm not to bothered - I don't pine for her and I'll probably never see her again. However, I'm just interested for next time to wonder what happened? It was my first time in a club so was I meant to take the lead or did she mean dance in a friendly way? I mean I offered her invitation but after that it kind of died. I don't know if my friend accidentally ruined it for me and I was a bit drunk so I probably wasn't as sharp as possible. But what should I have done? Is it normal for girls to ask for a dance or should I have been more assertive?

Advise is needed for next time - thank you though.

Darren1,

I am no PUA myself. But, I have been asked by girls to dance with them couple of times. Sometimes, in a real horny way. You know what I mean  My 2 cents, you did nothing wrong. Girls do like guys to take charge though. I don't know how good you are on the dance floor, but this link might help you out next time. http://www.youtube.com/user/pickupdance#p/u

All the best!

u didnt do nothing wrong..but if u want to escalate next time then try these few things, isolate her frm the group (ie. take her to the bar) dance with her and flirt/tease while dancing....learn some cool dance moves to dhv.butt bump on dance back to back with her girl friends (dat one works for me all the time) try those out and let us kno how it goes ;)
