Ok short field report,

I was out in manchester city centre today on my way to catch a train back to Loughborough. Firstly though, i got some lunch and sat outside in piccadilly gardens. Then i thought i saw a hot girl who used to go to my school. I turned out to be disasterously wrong in this assumption, and so I pulled out the "Omg im sorry i thought you we're someone i knew!" line....But i did it with such a way, that i had a great big smile and gave off very laid back vibes and ended up chatting to this HB8 for about 20mins! However i froze when she mentioned the word "boyfriend" and i bottled it and f**ked off pretty sharpish!

Besides from bottling it, i think the "i thought you we're someone i knew" opener worked REALLY well and i deffinatly want to use it again. Anyone else used this to good effect?

However ive met a few girls who mentioned their boyfriends and although ive told myself to not think anything of it, i still shit my pants and think i have no chance. How do i get over this!?

Did she say she was waiting for her boyfriend or just mentioned it vaguely?

Either way a response I remember thinking was great was from Scent of a Woman when Al Pacino asks to sit with a woman, she just tells him she's waiting for her fiancee. Now here is the killer line:

"Ah ok, well I'll keep you company and keep the womanizers at bay"

Well in your situation it could be altered to maybe "Well at least I'm keeping the womanizers away until he arrives"

But it depends on how she mentions him, just don't worry about it if he comes up in conversation, however if she goes out of her way to mention it then its a bit different.

She just vaguely mentioned it to be honest. I remember the line was...
"oh cool, my boyfriend's a man city fan too"

Those lines are pretty smooth by the way, think ive just got to learn that boyfriends arent necessarily an obstacle. To be quite frank, its my concience that kicks in thinking "am i now trying to steal her from her boyfriend?".... i just feel like a bit of a sleeze lol!
