One was eating a salad but my target wasn't. I put my car in park (Yes still in the drive through line) and Smile and walk up to them and ...
Me: "Hey ladies."
all 3: "Hi"
Me: "Recently I went on a bit of a diet" pat my stomach "And since normal women eat way more salads than guys, I figured I would come over here and get your opinions on which salad is best here."
Non target: "Yeah, I was gonna order a salad but instead.." She totally gets interupted by my target and I can't hear what she said.
Target: "I normally get a house but blah"
Me Ignoring and talking to other hb7: "Yeah, that one looks good what kind of salad is that?"
Nontarget HB7: giggled and look at target "House."
And I froze. My ignore had just backfired and then I had no idea what to do, so I just backed out thanking for the advice. Any advice on what to do when you try to ignore and yet it backfires? Should I have just continued like she didnt just say the same thing as my target? Should I have neged her and via proxy neg my target?
Ah well, any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I would have put this in openers but when I was analyzing what I did wrong (Like leaned on a railing while talking) I realized it was just a situational opinion opener.
