So the other night I thought I would speak with a girl I had a crush on over a year ago but never had the nerve to ask out. Since im still worried I wouldn’t know what to say I stole my opener from one of the post I read. From there I constantly fought the urge to fall back into my AFC mode. (which dont get me wrong, Im stell an AFC, but im fighting it)

Texting:
Me: Hey u just popped into my head so Hi !... Now please stay out of there.
Girl: lol ! Sorry I do that from time to time. How have you been? Long time.
AFC in me wanted to say: Life is good. Just been working and playing. You know.(boring stuff. I never sent it)

Me: Life is good. Wrestled a few gators, broke some hearts, went ice skating…you know the usualy stuff. How about you. Married? Kids? The works?
(Note: All true stuff that I did, just exaggerated. And I all ready knew the answer to these questions, just thought there would be funny cause its so opposite of her.)

Girl: Im good. No ring. No kids luckily. Still working at the ***** and going to college. I have 8 classes left and then I graduate!!

AFC in me wanted to say: Wow, that’s awesome. What are you studying?
(Didn’t want to go interview route so I figured I'd changes the subject)

Me; well I must say (girls name), Im disappointed I didn’t even get a happy b-day last week. I know I moved away(somewhere not to far away) but that’s no exuse. I thought we were friends.

Girl: OMG im sorry I completely forgot. Wait…. Did you wish me a happy birthday? I invited u to my badass party.

AFC in me wanted to say: im sorry I must have been busy. We should get together tonight to make up for it.
(figured I have not built up enough rapport to ask her out yet)

Me: What! U had a party & I was not invited.(I really was) Wow now im hurt. No invite 2 ur party and no happy b-day. That’s it, were done.
( had a message ready if no response to this,"ok I punish you long enough…and so on" but the girl text me back.)

Girl: I sent u an invite on myspace gezz! Well u forgot my bday soooooo….

Me: … ok we can call it even then.

Girl: lol tru. Well give me a call somethime we should hang out.

Me: well I think its been 2 long as it is. Whar r u going 2night?
( a mistake I think. Should of told her I was going to **** and if she want to meet me there that would be great. Or something like that.)

Girl: Hanging out at my house with some friends for a lil bit then maybe going downtown.
Me: K another time then.
(Note: I met her down town later that night. A lot of flirting went on but left her early due to a family matter that happen.)

You definintely did a good job of starting the conversation via text and getting her to go out with you. I enjoyed your "If I was still AFC" comments with each line. Hopefully, something good will come of all this for you.

She's definitely interested in you since she asked you to hang out. I agree you should have played harder to get, saying you were busy, but congrats on getting together with her.

I would definitely agree that you shouldn't have showed interest by asking her what she was doing that night. Telling her you were going out would have been a good thing to do, especially if she started to ask "where" and "with who" questions. She would have then been showing interest in you which you could have made her think that spending the night with you would be far more interesting then what she already had planned. Even if she didn't decide to come in the end it would allow you to tell her later how amazing your night was (even though she wasn't there) leaving the door open for the next time you go out to invite her.

It would be great to here what actually went on between the two of you that night downtown before you left but great job on showing the difference between what an AFC would say. I think it was actually one of the better examples out there for those who still don't get it.
