So the fun thing about being in another country and meeting people, tourists and locals, is how much phone numbers get thrown around. I mean, my first night sarging I picked up two numbers, and I manage to pick a number or two up every couple of days. Nothing really comes of it, even though they're real numbers. But in the past weekend I N-closed two Israeli soldiers.

First girl we'll call HBAmerican. I'm riding on the bus home from Tel Aviv with my friend after me and her rode in to get lunch and do a little shopping. I hear this girl behind me talking in English in what sounds like a West Coast accent. I turn to talk to her through the space in the seats after she's off the phone and ask her if she's from the West Coast. She says no and bladibladiblah. I ask her why she's in uniform and she starts telling me how she dropped out of music school to join the army in Israel. Turns out my friend and HBAmerican have a lot of friends in common because she used to go to my friend's boyfriends school. Small world. Anyway, mad social-proofing going on and I jump in the open seat next to her. We're talking about music and I show her the vinyl I had just bought. She loves Joni Mitchell and I'm just telling DHV stories about me playing at the Cavern Club in Liverpool and other cool shit. Anyway, about 30 minutes into the ride she mentions a boyfriend and I was a little stupid and took the bait and brought it back up like 5 minutes later. Either way, we exchanged numbers and I texted her later saying:

"Stellar meeting you. I'm adopting you as my little sister and we can go play in the trees and drink purple kool-aid." (from uhh whatshisnameinthisforum and on keys to the vip). maybe we'll get drinks sometime at the regular bar that we share.

Next night I'm out with my friend Tom who's going through basic training and we run into this short Israeli with excellent English. I do some basic kino and DHVing, but it's hard to DHV an Israeli girl, let me tell you. Anyway, she was real pleasant and lives very close to me. Didn't N-Close her. UNTILLLL I ran into her on the bus two days after and we chat for a bit. She tells me to put her in my phone as "Val Kilmer" to which I propose to her on the spot.

Can't believe I got some soldier digits. Now if I can get this going.....?
