10:00 am. Met a cute (HB 23472394872) musician.
Her: carrying a guitar.
Me: Ever busk?
Her: Nah.
Me: Why not?
Her: Too scared...
Me: Scared? Seriously? Howcome....is it the stage fright thing, or the not getting noticed?
...conversation, dropped the line that I'm a musician myself, couple of bands, grad student in archaeology...very good interaction.
banter about music...
Challenging/Qualifying:
Me: So are you good?
Her: No...
Me: You're a musician...you've got a my space page...
Her..Well, I'm not really a musician
Me: You have a guitar. You play, and you've got gigs. Sure you're a musician. None of this modesty stuff. You need some arrogance in this game..let's try again.
Her: (buying right into this:) Yeah I'm great! I'm the best!
Me: ok ok, let's put a lid on some of this arrogance...
(segue into my own story about music, bragging and modesty--all true stories--I try never to make stuff up except occasionally for an opener)
OK close, but not #.
Me: You know, it would be cool to hear you some time. How do I find you?
Her: Points to a pin on her shirt with the band name...I touch it, getting a bit of kino in. Get the myspace page but don't bother w/the number since she's getting off the tube right then and I was too slow.
again, great interaction. She gets off the tube, asks my name, and gives me a pleasant/lingering handshake.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was this morning. So I look her up at the site she gives me (it's the band site but she's prominent on there.)
Here's what I learn from the site--she labels herself as straight but swinging. I looked at her on fb as well and she's listed as in a relationship. That combined w/swinging could mean, well, anything...she's also a blond in some pictures, but a brunette when I met her
Here's my note...tell me what you think?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[b]I figure I'll email you rather than the generic band page. You're not difficult to find, as their number one fan...
Remember what I said..."hell yeah, I'm a musician, and a damn good one." That's what to tell people.
I kinda like it. [the music, which I listened to briefly] Noodly. Kind of reminds me of my sister and I in the living room a few years back w/me on keys and her on guitar...
you know, I got off the tube today, about 2 stops after you, and said "come to think of it, London, for all its 7 million people, is actually a pretty cool place!" [again, I really enjoyed the interaction]
Tell me something, though--say I'm sitting across from you in a coffee shop. Am I talking to a blonde or a brunette? Kids today...
And are you any good at maths? [random question....silly challenge...whatever.]
Off to entertain some Germans. Enjoy your weekend.
