After some IOI's and some more idle chat I attempt the number close, she glances around and says "I would but my boyfriend wouldn't approve". I look away as I pull out my pen and notepad then stare her straight in the eye's "do I look like boyfriends matter to me". She practicaly melts and she gives the "Doggy dinner bowl look", I seal the deal, get the number, say bye and walk away.

Overview: Without that final strong eye engagement, demonstrating control and assertiveness, the close would not of happened. Eye contact can allow you to melt away any flimsy objections such as "I don't want to leave my friends" or "I might be busy".


Inciddently saying "I assume you have a boyfriend, anyway blah balh" can that be used as a false disqualifier? I've found that works quite well as a false disqualifier round my parts.

Great point on the eye contact there. I think a lot of people can take something from this.

On the False disqualifier I think it would work as long as you haven't conveyed too much interest so far. In the same way that if a girl mentions if you have a girlfriend or not would be taken as an IOI. (she wants to know if your single). You need to deliver that line in such a way that it doesnt sound as if your subtly asking if she has a boyfriend.
You say it works for you though so your delivery is obviously spot on.
