Yo :D For a while I have seen a murky line, as clear as mud between what is giving value and what is taking value. Banter(push pull/attraction stuff) and negs would be my first point of order.

First I suppose it would be appropriate to give my definition of each.

Banter; lads/girls: (all said in a playful friendly tone)

Banter between lads:
- 'common mate your lifting weights like a girl'
- 'You gonna flirt with me all night or you gonna talk to a girl?'
- 'what bet did you loose to have to wear that shirt?'
Attraction with girls:
- 'your cute, shame your not my type'
- 'your such a dork! How do your friends put up with you?'
- 'I hate you, your too cute!'

Negs: (said perhaps not seriously but matter of factly)
- 'cute dress, I've seen it on a few girls tonight'
- 'I like your hair, is it all yours?
- 'cute nails, are they real?' (Classic)
- 'is she always like this?'

I see these as occasionally taking value by putting others down and acting in a seeking attention and boy like way. Therefore when I use them I'm reactive to the response because I'm not certain I'm acting in alignment with MY values and giving value. I recognise this doesn't help my game.

My question is how do you view and categorise giving and taking value? Need some clarification/any links to threads/books/info on giving and taking value. (I get laid and am by no means a newbie, just working on that deeper level to get real solid game, so sensible replies only please)

Cheers lads!!

Here's my take on value. Value is what sells you to your sets. Without it, you won't make a sale. You won't close. Value can be measured by DHV and DLV. Negs are not a part of that.

Negs are something that should rarely be used, and when they are, they are simply meant to disqualify yourself as a suitor. They are not meant to lower the other person's value in a direct way. The only reason they come across as insults is because the girl needs to be given the impression that you don't care about complimenting her. And this is accomplished by virtue of a minor insult. A neg is not DLV.

DLV is primarily something you want to avoid doing to yourself or having done to you. You shouldn't really DLV your set unless you need them to qualify themselves to you. For instance, if they say they dont' have a college degree, you tell them you have a masters degree and only date smart women. This DLV's them and they might try to qualify themselves by telling you they plan on going back to school. Aside from that, you don't really want to DLV your target. You might want to DLV an AMOG or cockblocker to tool them out, but aside from that you just want to perpetually convey DHV to your set.

Nice reply. I understand the concept of demonstrating LV and HV and how what you say can shift the value. However I always saw giving and taking value as something separate to demonstrating it for yourself.

Have you watched the blueprint? I only ask because Tyler demonstrates a glass half full (of value) approach, where you are seeking value from other people to fill your cup up with lapping that up and then seeking more. In contrast to a glass full to the top approach, where you are bopping around the club filling other peoples glasses up and 'offering value' to everyone.

I like your post and pulled some positive points from it, but rather than just 'demonstrating value' I'm still not clear on what 'offering value' entails...
