The difference between ignoring externally and internally

Hey

I'm one of my many people struggling with confidence issues etc

However I've been working on it and have had some progress.

The thing I wanted to talk about is not reacting. Now,everyones heard the advice that ignoring someone who is criticizing you or trying to piss you off is the best way to the act (The alpha way if you like), but anyone can actually do this but unless internally you aren't getting worked up then you might aswell be punching the guy.

If you can somehow stand there and take everything in they say and just be relaxed about it, it's hard to explain, almost as if you're layed back and just letting go completely and his words aren't attaching to you at all, it's a beautiful feeling. Other people can be laughing at him and you can still be chill and after you're just thinking "Cool...yeah great...I don't even know what he said I was that not bothered about it"

I'm bringing this up because I used to get confused, I'd not be reacting in physical terms but I was reacting a lot mentally and distinguishing the difference is important if you want to change.

I'd say next time someone tries to piss you off or whatever, just let them do it but don't take it seriously...take it as a joke somehow...and at the end just laugh...you can even at the end just be like WOW FANTASTIC laughing and it even though it seems weird theyll get the vibe you don't give a fuck.

I think what your talking about is almost purely an internal thing because if it's affecting your head then you will probably start showing externally via your body language, even if it's just a little thing like clenching your fist. Unless your a master at disguising your body language people will pick up that it's getting to you and will know that your holding it in.

Perhaps you could try and imagine your the person doing the piss taking. We've all took the piss out of someone or something and we usually do it to make ourselves feel better or to make others laugh. So if you can do that and genuinely see the funny side of things you will start to laugh naturally and stop being pissed off, in theory anyway. Also it depends on what the other person is saying, if they are actually starting to get aggressive and really nasty then you have a right to react, otherwise you might look weak. Just my two pence worth.
