Note: I thought this was the best section to place this in, if it is in the wrong section please move.

I was wondering, how does one create an image?
I have no idea what I want to look like, except that I want to be attractive and accepted. I don't know what clothes fit me or what style of hair I should have etc.
How do I find my style? I am a tall person, rather skinny weigh about 73ish (kg) I don't have a lot of muscle mass nor facial hair, I have buck teeth and cannot afford braces for them, and I am very insecure about my looks.

Do I google people I admire and see what they wear and attempt to emulate? Do I just try some clothes on and post what I look like here? Do I ask a good friend if I look good who will give an honest opinion? Or is it a combination of the above?

Don't sweat the teeth bro. Think about Freddie Mercury, the guy had the most fucked up grill of all time and he was one of the most "attractive" figures of all time. He banged tons of girls and tons of guys as well LOL!

For style this is what I did. I knew that my best friends wife bought all his clothes and that girls liked his style. I took her shopping and let her do all the decision making. This gave me a base. Then I added my own flavor. Boom!

Another little trick that I use. Pick up a bunch of magazines and find guys that look a lot like you, face, body type, hair etc. Some professional got paid a shit load of money to pick out the best look for that guy. Now some professional just picked out the best look for you for free.

Pick up anything high quality. Look in magazines that carry some of your interests. If you are a computer kins of guy just flip through some IT/Gamer magazines. I am a fitness professional and I practice MMA so I picked up all the health and mma mags. The only way you can screw up is if you pick something that just isn't you. Like if you are an artist type and you pick up Biker mags.

Not exactly sure what I fit into, I like martial arts but I am also a programer for fun. I like reading and learning all the nerd stuff, but I also like magic tricks. Should I dress up like I do for my magic shows, black shirt long pants and boots, I have gotten comments from other people such as "You look sexy" etc.

If you can rock it then do it. I know Mystery catches shit for his dress but he also catches the most women and the most $.

Don't dress like a clown. Contact one of you girl friend that have good taste, ask her if she's ok to help you find a new style. Give her a budget, let her choose and test the clothes with you. Buy her a dinner to thanks her. Get a nice watch, good sunglasses, and very important, good shoes ! Women look at often to what kind of shoes u are wearing, I don't care personally, but I always get compliment from women about my shoes. It might sounds stupid, but I think it's important ( how many pair of shoes does a women have on average ? ).
Simple and it works well.

I wouldn't really worry about getting this sorted as it is the first major obstacle of many AFC's new to the game. It is defo something that everyone has to get sorted in order to feel good, get attention from girls, fit in with other people etc etc

1. A lot of people tend to dress to fit into their social surroundings. So I am guessing you are not surrounded by the most stylish guys. Common amongst new AFC's. :)

2. Some men have women in their lives, female friends or sisters that help them sort out their style. You may also not have this. :D

3. Many people may dress towards the style of their role models like musicians, actors etc etc

4. The most common is that people go to shops that are known as fashionable. Good labels make high quality stylish clothes. Going to a good shop means that even if you manage to come out of there with the worst outfit, you are probably still going to look stylish.

My advice for your fashion would be to gradually improve it with a goal in mind. Start with a new pair of jeans, then some shoes, then a leather jacket, hairstyle and so on. These are just some examples, the point is that you will get comfortable with your style slowly. If you just get a whole new outfit, you may feel insecure as you may feel 'its not me'.

In terms of teeth, firstly as many people have crooked teeth as people who have straight teeth. Use that to keep your morale up whilst you set up a plan to get them straightened. I understand it is a lot of money. So what. Dont buy that next xbox game or weekend treat. Get a job and aim to get them straightened. I do think that anyone with crooked teeth should get them straightened. It shows you care about your smile and that you understand what it means to have a good smile. It's not really vanity but fitting into society whilst feeling confident.

I am getting my teeth sorted, like you they are crooked, I recently bumped into some people that I knew growing up (same age). They also have crooked teeth still, difference is I am doing something about my (took a while but at least I am  ) but they are not. It made me feel great really. See what I am saying now?

Weight...just again, look around at other people when you go out next time. Trust me. See how it works now? Instead of looking at the people who are in the best position...great teeth, muscular, confident...and feeling like shit.

Swith your frame and instead look at the people who are worse than you or will be worse than you when you go about getting your goals. It will make you feel better.

Good luck man, I recon 90% of AFC's are in your shoes...old shoes! In need of a fashion upgrade.

PS. On a more literal note, check out the website AskMen.com, it will help you with fashion and so on.
