These are some of the clear indicators I kept seeing that expose a lack of confidence or inner game. Feel free to contribute your own, as it could prove an interesting reference of what NOT to do.
- Apologizing. Obviously you can say sorry when it's really necessary, but some people seem to do it all the time.
- Looking at the ground.
- Being afraid to touch people. This applies to men and woman. A confidence person will wrap his arm around people, shake people's hands etc...
- Fidgeting
- In a public place standing near the outskirts. I see a lot of guys standing in the dark corners or edges of a bar/club all the time. It's far better to stand in the center! You'll get more attention and appear more confident.
- Limited/restrained movements. This goes for dancing, and general social interaction. Smaller movements feel less confident, and more awkward. Don't be afraid to take up space.
- Inability to hold eye contact
- Too heavily invested in a person (in terms of body language, conversation and emotion)
- Reluctance to mingle or meet strangers
- Not smiling
- Not taking action (e.g.: talking about approaching, but not doing it)
- Staring at your phone instead of chatting with people
- Generally looking like you're not having fun with the people you're with
