Recently, my parents offered to pay for a psychologist for me, Because they believe it would benefit me in all areas of life (they dont know im gaming). What do you guys think of this/ has anyone has similar experiences?

Any advice is appreciated :D

Id say take advantage of the opportunity. But I wouldnt say that psychologists are the best form of help either. I had 2 of them and I got more out of reading books than of wasting hundreds of dollars on therapy. But hey, you can always try it out and maybe it might help you out more than it helped me.

Well, if you have any problems that affect your life & and you feel like can't get rid of them on your own, then yeah, you should go.

I went to see a psychologist when I was a teenager, because I had some serious issues and stuff, eventually it did work out for me as I've actually been a lot better than what I was before, but I still feel I really have some work to do.

So while I did get some self-esteem, confidence etc. from the therapy, I still know that while it may have helped me and probably will still keep helping me in the future aswell, I really have to change and work on my inner game by myself, you know. It only gave me the tools and willingness to change, and now I'll have to go and to do that.

But even if you don't have any huge issues or anything, it can actually be quite relaxing to talk about your thoughts to someone who listens (if they don't, you really need to change the therapist!) and gives you (hopefully good) advice.

So yeah, I recommend you to go if you think you could benefit from it.

I'd say it's worthwhile.

It may or may not prove useful, but it will give you a chance to air your thoughts and have someone cast their perspective on it.
