I'm suffering from chronic depression. I'm receiving SPAM for it and think the best way to go is to continue to meet people while maintaining a happy facade.

In the past, I had not put any effort into looking happy. It only served to make me isolated and worsen my depression.

I've no issue with knowing that being out with people will involve putting on an act. I know it won't cure the depression, but I believe it will stop it from getting any worse. I am however struggling with how to make this act convincing.

Does anyone have any advice on how to project a happiness that isn't really there?
