So i've been reading a bunch of threads on here telling me I need to figure myself out/what I want in life so that I can get my confidence/game back on track.

I totally agree... with just one small problem:

I sit down to write out on paper about what I want/where I want to be, and I just can't seem to write anything! I feel so damn cut off from myself! What can I do to get past this annoying block i've got going on?

Observe it. Dont judge it. Dont only be aware of the resistance but also be aware that you are the witness of the resistance. Look at the peculiar pleasure you get from being unhappy. Eventually, you should get a pretty good idea of what you want to be and who you are. Check out Eckhart Tolles Power OF Now for a better description.

The best thing to do when you feel that way...in any situation really...is to just walk away, do something else, then come back to it with a fresh perspective and with all your anxiety discharged. If get annoyed/pissed-off, you just add tension to the situation, and that doesn't exactly help when you're trying to learn something new, now is it? :)

After that, try simplifying and asking the old "What do I want to be when I grow up, and why?" question. Since this is obviously related to your goals in life, you can then use your answers as a springboard for other goals.

I've been that way before and I can still get that way sometimes, I balance between following my short term passions, and totally spacing out and not caring about anyone or anything. It is really terrible and I don't wish it on anyone, I think its a consequence of thinking about everything down to the atom, The Power of Now talks about the mind being destructive and it really is true. The mind's goal is misery at all costs.

I wanted to be a police officer, until I failed a color-blind test and now Im going to be a social worker. Just keep doing well in school and you will figure it out. Also, get advice from reliable sources(we don't count, we don't know you're strengths/weaknesses).

I don't think I get any pleasure out of being unhappy...? Point well taken though.

the thing with figuring yourself out and in figuring what do you want in life is that its not so hard, but it can be if you complicate it.

Im gonna give you an example.

Back a year ago I was very in the money making stuff, trying to figure out how to earn more and get more money and women.

I eventually succeded and had the success that I want.

But i was missing that sense of proudness in myself as a man. I was missing that sense of connection with the world.

I wanted all this money and sucess, and now that I had it, it wasnt what I really wanted.

This happened because I never sat down and thought about what I really want in my life.

How do I want my life to look like, what kind of contribution do I want to give to ppl in my life.

Everything starts with a small goal setting excercise where you writte down things you wish for.

But the problem with the goal setting excercise is that when you begin to writte it you tend to generalize a lot. Like- I want a house on the beach and a bmw and a hot blonde to have wild sex with-

most of it is social programming and is not what you really want anyways.
What I really want is for example to have a woman that is attractive, but who has a pure heart and is sincere and believes in truth- because I am like that.
I want a house on the lake with my own garden where I can rest and writte and read books near my fire place- because that is what I enjoy doing

But to become connected with your true inner wishes GO AWAY for awhile.

SOLITUDE is the answer.

I suggest you start with questions.

Who am I?
What am I best at?
Who do I love?
Who loves me?
Where do I want to go?
What places do I want to visit?
What kind of a relationship do I want with my parents?

Writte down questions, close the notebook and go do some sports. Swim, jogg or play tennis, and that will stimulate your mind to come up with answers.

Than go back and think of answers.
