Hey guys,

I'm not terrbily short, I'm ~5'6", and while being short used to really affect my self esteem I've effectively gotten over it now. My height has also not affected my success with women. I've had girls who were much taller than me, my same height, and shorter. It hasn't affected me too much.

But I have one problem with it that remains: Whenever I walk into a club or a bar, whether it's a regular afterwork bar in NYC or a college dive in Upstate NY, I begin to feel younger because of how everyone towers over me. At least this is my perception. My confidence is high, my energy is good, but this strange feeling, as if I don't belong (even in the college bars where almost everyone is, in fact, younger than me), really wears me out and I find it almost tiring to maintain my alpha state.

This is, I'm aware, all highly irrational. Actual experience shows that I am temporally older than my peers, and I am usually more experienced in the world than them, but this doesn't stop the feelings.

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts or perspectives to help me get over feeling younger than my peers.

Thanks,
Talon

I'm roughly the same size as you and I've never had your problem...

IN FACT even though I'm only 22, people have thought that I'm as old as 31! (I can't tell if that's a good thing, though).

Also, I get the impression of that you're actually -trying- to maintain the Alpha-mindset instead of just -being- Alpha. This might very well counter-act everything you're doing and we don't want that to happen. Have a good time and don't bother. I actually think it's a good thing to be short, because then you'll never (or at least very rarely) be percieved as threatening from a physical stand-point.

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes I just need someone else to tell me to shut-up and just forget about it. I get told that I look older too. People tend to think I'm in the 23-25 range. Though I've gotten as old as 28 (I'm 22, btw).

And I like the whole not being seen as a threat thing. Nice perspective.

Okay, so the lesson here: Just get over yourself--you're the only one who seems to think you're young and incapable, so just forget it and have fun.

Thanks,
Talon

Absolutely agree with Punchl!ne.

Dude I'm about the same height too.

And the whole "bigger guys" thing used to really bug me. I always felt that they would purposefully stand next to me to make them look bigger and more alpha and me smaller and more beta. Or in a crowded bar I'd be the one they would push past.

But to be honest I've found that it is all inner confidence. It was me letting them get to me (very Beta).

The Alpha guy is the one not trying too hard.

I hope this makes sense, although i guess ur post was more about age than height?

Well, I'm fine with my age, almost 23. It's just that often my height makes me feel inside as if I'm younger. But I guess I need to just keep doing for that what I've done for all my other problems: "Get over it. People like you. People look up to you. Get over it."

Thanks for the feedback guys :)
