We all know that there are many routines that can make it seem like we are confident alpha males. You can study bodylanguage and appear superior and cool.

This is not the same thing as real inner game. Real inner game has to be trained it cannot be faked.

Inner game is something you need to keep up, if you do not constantly train it you will lose it. It is like going to the gym.

So what is the difference between real inner game and fake inner game?

Think of real inner game (or confidence) as a jar of peanut butter. It looks like a jar of peanut butter, it feels like a jar of peanut butter, and when you open it it tastes like peanut butter. Great!

A man without inner game has an empty jar of peanut butter, you can see through it and you see that it does not contain anything, why waste time on opening it?

A man who fakes inner game using routines has filled his empty jar with something else. But you can see that the color is different. Apparently it is not peanut butter so why bother.

A man who fakes it well has filled the jar with something and painted the jar. You can not see immediately if it is peanut butter or not but you cannot be sure before you check it out. So you give this guy some moments of your time to find out if it really is peanut butter. So you lift the jar and you feel that it has the wrong weight. (This is what shit tests are for!) No need to open it, its not real.

A man with inner game can pass all those tests, the big question is, when she opens the jar, will she find peanut butter or not? How good is your inner game really? Do you really believe that you have a jar full of peanut butter or is it just what you are telling yourself? Think about it.

haha peanut butter is good! I like the comparison. Definitely true though on what you said. I often feel like I'm losing some of my "state" or "inner game" if I'm not doing approaches for a period of time.
