Youre a still a teenager, so you still have some time to grow to your full stature.

I suggest you sign up at a boxing/bjj/or mma gym. Partly to learn how to defend yourself but even more so, youll have proper advice from people who train to fight and fight competitively, as well as meet people who are used to your living condition.

You wont be a killing machine in a month. And even after a few years, alot of student are just as useless. You can not expect to beat 7 to 1 odds even if your are a champ. But itll help you keep the sense of fear from being overwhelming if it comes to that.

On a more immediate level, you need to spot trouble before it comes to you. And you can not initiate or escalate the conflict as people have big ego. If you wound it, they will come back for revenge.

Leave your ipod at home. Music is fun, but if it attracts you trouble and you can not hear it coming because your hearing is impaired, then it is more trouble than it is worth.

Obviously, these kind of problems are easily settled if you changed to a nicer neighborhood.
