So I want to try meditation to clear it. My questions are this about it
1. what are the techniques for meditation that you use
2. where is a good place to do so (an IE of where you do it would be nice)
3. How can you tell if it's working (I know you can't get results overnight, does it make progress in a week or month?)

It's simple, a bell rings and your objective is to pay attention to the sound until it's completely faded away.
Do this regularly, it works.
What it does is makes you more mindful and attentive, it's significantly helped me tie down to conversations and make interactions much better.

Meditate twice daily for 20 minutes.
It can be done anywhere.
Sit and repeat a mantra.
Allow all thoughts to come and go (Think of your thoughts as catch and release fishing. You acknowledge the thought, then you let it go).
When beginning you should not worry about if it's working or not. you should gauge your success by two things...
1.) How consistent you are.
2.) Your overall "acceptance" with your thoughts.
The first time I realized meditation was no joke was when I was sitting around waiting for a night class. I was feeling a little depressed and did not feel like doing anything. I did my second meditation for the day and BOOM! I felt like a million bucks afterwards. I know this is a little of vague, but it was a profound moment for me.
I hope this helps!
