my parents got divorced about 10 years ago. There is 5 of us and i'm the middle child. Now since my mom was alone i felt i had to stay outta trouble and do alot of things for her. Including watching my two younger siblings.

When i turned 18 i started working construction with my dad. I gave alot of my money to my mom paid about 4 grand for her car (she let me use it for a year though.) Fixed the roof for about a grand and a half. Remodeled her bathroom, Painted about everywhere. Tiled the kitchen floor. And then we'd need my dad to do plumbing or electrical wrk and in order to get him to help us i had to work on his house in exchange.

Now lately i've been looking at myself wondering why i have little friends and basically not much of a life. And i realize i spend way too much time doing shit for others. It's like every weekend my mom wants me to do some type of work in her house.

I just refused to repaint the living room. My mom then went off on a tirade about how i'm doing nothing with my life. That i suck at my job and she throw guilt on me as well that i refuse to bear anymore.

Seriously my family feels like poison to me and i need to get out.

I strongly recommend you to read the book "No more Mr. Nice Guy".

It will help you a lot; but you`re already on your way.

I strongly agree with you, it`s something that`s causing you trouble but remember, it`s not actually family what`s bringing you down, it`s only yourself who allows it.

i know its me not really valuing my time because if my family isn't wasting my time i am.

I really need to start to get my shit together. Time is money as they say. I'll def give that book a read.
