This might be a really random thing to put on here but in the few weeks I've been on this site, I have gotten alot of advice from alot of people who can relate, maybe someone can relate with this.

I have been smoking for about 6 years now and I have felt for a very long time that it has played a big part in the increase of my lack of social life as well as my anxiety and depression ( which runs in my family). I've tried to quit so many times but with no luck. Have period where I ton it down but never stick it. The friends I hang with are smokers and I dont hang out with the ones who dont anymore ( i know same old story if you have the same problems). Anyways, I just need some advice and maybe hear some experiences from others, my depression is getting worse and dont know what to do anymore. I know I should talk to someone like a professional but am wary about antidepressants as I feel I am already addicitied to a drug and feel I am very susceptible to addiction right now.
Anyways, anything would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Just quit it.

Throw all you have away.
And tell your friend that you have quit.
THen you have to live up to your words.

I've had mates quit and the difference it made to them is rediculous. You'll have to give it a month before you notice much change though

yeah just quit. Don't chill with your smoking buddy's for awhile. Your talking to a guy who stopped about 2 years ago. Gave my vaporizer to my dad. I have no desire to go back even when people I hang with smoke.

last Wednesday i was smoking a big fat joint with my mate and i decided that i didn't want to do it any more. haven't smoked one since. i just don't like the way it makes me worry when im stoned (all your problems just hit you at once!) , i had only been smoking it for about 4 years properly but now its been over a week and a half i dont even want to, one thing your going to notice is that your friends will want you to smoke it still, if they are all meeting up for a joint your going to have to find something else to do. and defiantly tell every one who knows you smoke that you have stopped, brag about it, get all up on your high horse, this will create a mental reason for you not to, you wont want to look like you full of shit will you?

its only been a week and a half but im so much more alert and aware of whats going on in my life. post how it goes, glad someone else in the community is doing it at the same time, keep us updated!

oh and your going to smoke a lot more fags if your a smoker... for now this is a good thing! but those little fuckers are next to go. for me at least.

I was a heavy smoker for 3 years. I tryed to quit 1 year till i managed to do so for a year now.
Anxiety depression - yes it is all from weed. You had too much of it and you need to quit.

You have 2 options:'
-gradually reduce your smoking habbit
-quit cold turkey

Quiting cold turkey will be fastest way however it is a hard way and if you fail and smoke once chances are high you will get back to the same old smoking habbit. Take this path only if you believe in your power of will

I advice reduce amount you smoke - put less weed in joints/bong, dont smoke in mornings only evenings. Next step dont smoke alone only with friends only weekends. Then quit totally.

You may get insomnia for few weeks and mad dreams about you smoking weed lol

Sports and being active helps A LOT to recover faster.

Note that recovery can take from 1 to 6 months.

Don't tell anybody you quit until at least a month has passed. Just tell your friends you dont want to smoke anymore you had enough of it.

Don't go to places where all people do is smoke. Don't drink alcohol as a replacement it never works and you will be smoking soon again. Better do some sports or do some pick up.

When you decide to quit REMEMBER NOT TO START AGAIN under any circumstances - whether you feel like shit or you feel very good. Because you will simply start smoking it again and you will feel guilty and you will have to quit from the start. When you quit for few months dont think you are over it. Be respectful to your problem.

Anyway life being sober is so much easier - no anxiety no depression. Just calmness and peace.

Like most things in life: set goals.

Something that`s kinda casual for you; this might sound odd, but instead of doing things drastically like quitting at once, you could try to smoke less for some time before dropping.

I`ll give you an example:

Let`s say you had 25 grs; you`ve already smoked 10 in 2 weeks. Make those 15 grs. last 3 weeks; and after finishing it don`t buy any more.

Just drop it, understand that the addiction is in your head; it`s not the actual drug, it`s your own mind.

Don`t pay attention to it, ignore it. Same applyies for your ego.
