This is a really hard question because I don't think there is any book that fits all situations. It would be like saying "What's a good medical book to cure what I have?" Well it depends what you have.

In fact, I think sometimes one of the problems is people read a one-size-fits-all book and think it will apply to them when maybe it really only applies to a certain type of person.

The best starting point is to figure out what is going on with your inner game specifically and find books specific to that.

Jackal,

There is a guy named Paul Ekman who is an absolute master when it comes to nonverbal communication. Check out his stuff for sure.

"Eckhart Tolle - The Power Of Now" is a good book, actually helped me with AA and finding what I truly want from life.

It could be a challenge to read though.

There are tons of great books out there, it really depends what area of your life you want to improve on.

I really liked:

John Alexander's How to become and alpha male.

The Seven habits of highly effective people.

Gene Simons' Money Sex and Kiss

"How to Win Friends and Influence People" was a great one by Dale Carnegie. A true classic and can deeply improve inner game. Go with the original, and always relate the material to how it can be applied in your life every day.

"The Power of the Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy
"The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem" by Nathaniel Branden
"Loving What Is" by Byron Katie

Dr. Wayne Dyer was a guy that REALLY helped me years ago and I find myself reiterating a lot of his teachings.

highly recommend 'the power of now' by eckhart tolle. it focuses on controlling your ego and attaining inner peace. not only will it improve your inner game in relation to pick-up, but it will also be applicable in every single other aspect of your life.

some parts maybe a bit 'hippy' or 'new-age', but for the most part it is an eye-opening and inspirational read.

I downloaded the audio book version of this and by the end of the first chapter I was bored out of my mind. Maybe I just haven't given it a proper chance, but a lot of what he was talking about didn't seem particularly insightful, apart from the beginning when he points out the separation of "I" and "self"

I thought I'd stop reading after that part aswell, but I didn't really have anything to do and kept reading. Honestly, I added some of my knowledge and which you might be missing so you can't understand it. It was really valuable to me anyways.

Here's a great resource for you to go deep into. It's more of an inner game, but it's definitely the place you want to start, if you're serious about your improvement

You can get it here: http://www.volcanoforum.ucoz.com/forum/30-10-1

- 'Psycho-Cybernetics' by Maxwell Maltz

I highly recommend this book, it goes over the psychology of the self image. It is to self esteem, confidence, and the self image as 'Think & Grow Rich' is to wealth and personal success. They are both success books, and possibly the best for shifting your mindset. I suggest studying them and applying their principles to your life. :)
