I am a very skinny dude with extremely high metabolism, so no matter what I eat, I can never put sufficient weight on. I workout daily but I do want to feel good about my physique by gaining more muscle. I am not from a 'rich' background haha, so I can't constantly get meat. But, what about protein shakes? Do they work?

Same thing as you, skinny af and high metabolism. What worked for me is eating more than I used to, it doesn't have to be a lot more but just so you never get hungry at any time of the day.

Other than that I did the Spartacus workout everyday. Which is more of a 'getting fit' workout and it works in the sense that you body will look a bit fuller and all your muscles look well aligned. I got a 6pack out of it so it worked for me.

Protein shakes come in different types. Casein protein is a longer lasting protein that stays in your system for a long time. That's why it's perfect for when you go to bed. Before you sleep you drink 1 shake and that'll help you recover from your muscle soreness through the night while your body restores itself. 'Regular' protein shakes have a faster rate. That's why you should take those right after working out.

You can't solely base your diet on protein shakes though, you need a good meal setup if you want to get big.

Anyway, there you go man.

Thanks. How long did it take for you to get decently big? I am currently 8 stone, 5'11, with hight metabolism and still quite a big appetite - although I do feel fit, and I haven't a disease. My size is just genetic for this age. I want to just put on some extra weight, to correspond with my muscle build.

I'm not that big actually. I weigh 70 kilo's and it's all muscle. I'm a soldier so I workout a lot and do a lot of cardio. I also watch what I eat even though it's hard to gain weight. If you gain weight you're gonna want to do it the right way.

Main thing for our body type is persistance. Keep going at it and keep fucking going. Don't ever stop even if you don't see shit happening. Workout harder and eat more and eventually you're going to make it. And you won't regret it.

Exactly. At some point, people will start to ask you if you started working out, then they will start complementing you and your body but this takes a lot of time!

Go to the bodybuilding.com and start reading through their forums. You'll find lot more information there than you will here. I'd bet they already have some established threads for helping people with overactive metabolisms make gains.
