Location: edinburgh | | So I'm traveling SPAM and whenever I come to a new hostel I find it really hard to approach A group that all know each other (I know they all know each other!) expecially long term travellers. When I finally get in with all of them and am part of the group im fine and I strick up convos with fellow travellers all the time (more then anyone else) that are new! Its just getting into that comfort zone. I really want to get this sorted. I know its like AA but its different. I dont have much AA normally. thanks

Location: United Kingdom | | I also struggle when approaching people older than myself (I find this a lot at work) but my only advice is don't devalue yourself because of age; you have just as much to offer to the group as them but at the same time let natural social dynamics flow. Older people will want to impart knowledge and feel like they are helping someone less experience/younger... so an easy way to make them feel comfortable and chatty with you is to ask for advice/tips etc which is easy when travelling!
