ill admit it, im an obsessive nerd when it came to pickup. Id spend hours reading and posting on PU, body language and sexuality, it became my obsession.
dont get me wrong, it works, i was getting laid grabbing numbers, sarging daily and it seemed like my entire lifestyle had been readjusted (clothing, hygiene, fitness, friends, music).

however, us younger guys gotta keep in mind that PU isnt everything. Personal growth and being ourselves has to be our utmost priority. I manged landing a girlfriend after less than a year studying the game (never been in a relationship before, and was just looking for a good lay honestly) implying a lot of what i learned into the relationship such as excitement, mystery, humor etc.

when it came down to the serious talk however, she brought up how i always had some "front" or "barrier" up and i was continuously a hard read. this didnt bother me at first, but after she moved i came to realize that being myself around her had been even harder than learning pickup itself.

im only 20 years old, but i find a lot of posters here around my age and are desperate for a quick fix to their women problems. pickup is a great way to change yourself for the better and learn from past mistakes, but we must not forget who we are as individuals and what makes us different from other artists in the field.

Take this advice for what you think it's worth and goodluck

cheers,
Dantonious

Definitely agree with this. I guess it depends what you want from all this. Personally, I don't read a lot on the actual picking up bits - the routines, techniques etc. I don't care too much about. I'm not too fussed about being able to pick up hundreds of girls a year or whatever.

I'm more interested in the psychology, confidence etc. I think some of the stuff you read on here can make you more confident. a lot of the stuff in this forum and the "social shyness" forum are really good for all walks of life - personal development, confidence building, social skills. These do help you with women, yeah. But they also help you just with anyone. That's more what I'm looking for, with a nice added side affect of being better around women too - that's the bonus not the main thing for me.

Definitely agree that if you're in a proper long term-ish relationship then there needs to be a bit of a shift in attitude away from PUA stuff towards being more open. Not a complete shift, but other attributes need to come through as well.
