Damn monkeys always causing trouble!
haha.. compassion sly, COMPASSION!

I just reflected on this passage for the first time, and something that appeared in my mind is the boy's intent. The boy set out with the intent to find a monkey and kill it with his weapon. So he done messed up by the time the monkey spoke to him, thus the boy is facing an unsolvable dilemma. It's his life lesson

Perhaps.. the monkey was letting the boy know how the fate of his death feels. It was a powerful way to transmit the feeling he had.

Impermanence.. everything that is alive will be dead someday.

Way too complicated. Keep it simple, man. The monkey is a monkey. The boy is a boy. His mother is a mother. His father is a father :)
And Zac Lui is a son of a bitch! Off with his head!

Im beginning to think that this boy is actually a Tarzan due to his ability to communicate with apes.

I like your idea Sly :D

The monkey he wants to shoot is sitting in a tree about to kill his father. His mother is standing beneath the tree. If he shoots, his father is saved but the dead monkey falls on his mom, killing her. If he doesn't shoot, the monkey kills the father.

Monkey Mind
Prepared by Laura Simms

A young boy went into the bush to hunt with his bow and arrow. He saw a monkey on the branch of a tree and aimed his arrow. The monkey spoke to him, "Stop. You must think before you shoot me. If you kill me, your mother will die and if you do not kill me, your father will die."
Just Do It.

if he spares the monkey, his masculinity will die (father)
if he kills the monkey, his compassion will die (mother)

Yes, sametime NO. Follow what Jav and Hobbs have been giving as hints. :)

The bush is the field.
The monkey is the woman.
The arrow is the PU intention.
Death of the Father is the Death of Yang/Extroverted Energy/PUA-spirit/Zeal for Life
Death of the Mother is the Death of Yin/Inner Peace/Self-Satisfaction/Comfort

If he manifests his intentions and sarges the woman, his mother dies (his comfortableness with his reality)
If he suppresses his urges and does not sarge the woman, his father dies (his will to be better)

What should he do? Be comfortable, or be a winner? You can't have both.

Work with the people in the chatroom. This answer is interesting, and its certainly empowering for me, but the OP's original answer has already shifted my inner game by a mile in the right direction. Work with Jav, Hobbit and Zac, and hit me up if you see me. This is good stuff right here.

You can't do one without the other.

ugh. um.. I feel like we solved it already. I can't think of anything else to elaborate on. Brick wall puzzles like these piss me off.
