I've been struggling with acne my whole life though I'm way way past puberty. Recent 1 year it improved. Once in a while, there'll be a huge obvious bump which doesn't go away for weeks. Tried several solutions. I figured it's a hormonal thing, diet and medication only helped to a certain extent.

1) Guys who can identify with this issue, what's your method to reframe and regain your confidence? :)

2) 2 weeks back I had almost clear skin, met a girl stated in another post. Going out with her this weekend. Very unluckily, my 1 week old big inflamed bump hasn't healed. It isn't that horrible, but just looks...... unappealing.
A part of me feels like I don't need to explain it to anyone. On the other hand, I feel like exaggerating the current acne beforehand over the phone to her. Yes this's my biggest insecurity, thought it's fine to be honest and joke about it. What do u think? :?

Im no expert but I wouldn't mention it. Just pretend its not there. Obviously before you go to see her use clearasill when you have a shower. It might help when you see her to try find a little imperfection with her. And just accept no ones perfect and theres proof. I get bad acne too. I just started doxycyline (medication) again. Still plays with my confidence but its natural.

Thx rat_boy. I use benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, but they only work to a small extent nowadays. Seems like it's getting harder for me to heal acne as I age.

Yea I went out with the mindset of not giving a shit about my acne. Both dates with diff girls went well. Was surprised they didn't care about my acne either. I totally agree they have their own insecurities also.

Hi Billy Mays here with an awesome solution to your acne problems!

Alright, I can relate to how uncomfortable acne can be, actually about a month ago I had acne crawling all over my face. I was in Pennsylvania at the time with my father and even with confidence after the acne is pointed out repeatedly you unfortunately become aware of it, even famous acne products didn't help.

Luckily this technique my dad showed me is fantastic and only about 8 bucks out of your pocket.

All of the following I assure you is pretty much available at your local dollar store.
1. Dial Soap
2. Witch Hazel (not fairly popular but it's there and invaluable)
3. Cotton pads.
4. Acne Vanishing Cream [http://clearasil.us/skincare-products/c ... ment-cream]
Yeah.. that's it..

The Process
*This has to be done either before you go to bed, or at least when your skin won't be exposed to the sun*
1. Wash your face with the dial soap thoroughly, you can tell when it's clean.
2. Pour some of the Witch Hazel on the cotton pad and rub all portions of your face
*You will see dirt on the pad, WH is a DEEP cleaning substance, which is why it's awesome*
3. Once you have wiped your face with the Witch Hazel just add the acne cream.

It's as simple as that. I've used so many products that ended up letting the acne come back, after I made this routine a regular one my acne has COMPLETELY disappeared, I even forgot a few times and it managed to still stay away.

Try it out 8)

Mix about a tablespoon of non-iodized sea salt (make sure it's non iodized!!!) with some really hot water into a cup. This is essentialy saline soultion but more concentrated. Get some cotton balls and dip them in the salt water. Apply it to your skin on the affected area and wipe with a little bit of pressure. The sea salt will rip the dirt and grim out of your skin. Rinse your face off with hot water to clean the rest of it out and then rinse your face with cold water to close up your pores. This is a little trick I learned that works great for removing white heads and pimples and it works super quick. You can do this to your whole face daily and have perfectly clean skin in about week.

After having acne for the past 10 years since I hit puberty, I've tried everything. Here's what works for me and what I think about my own experience.

My skin is the reflection of my self talk. I can tell, when I go into any fit of depression or stress, my acne flares up. Over years of seeing this, I can tell that my emotional stress levels are directly related to my acne. For some people the skin is very sensitive to emotions and thought.

Whatever energy you focus into your skin and face, it will reflect. This is a trick I have been using recently to help clear my acne up. I wrote on a sticky note, "I Love You Skin" and posted it on my mirror. I see it every morning and night and it reminds me to only give love for the situation. Whether this little trick works depends on you.

Either way, if you think about it, do you want to send negative stressful energy into your skin as you wash your face daily, or would you rather practice the habit of loving your skin unconditionally?

It's improved my skin a lot, but I have yet to test it on a longer term basis. Just an idea. I also use simple soap and benzol peroxide once a day. Been doing this same regime for years.

Cheers friends and keep a positive confident outlook. :)

Diet can be the most important thing here.

Try cutting out dairy completely (ever notice how you eat pizza and then get acne?). Also avoid all processed foods especially sugar, corn syrup, or white flour. Replace these items with organic vegetables and occasionally fruits. You'll feel better in every way. Plus hot girls eat similar diets so they stay hot...

Of course wash your face before bed and a couple times a day, I tend to avoid antibacterial soaps or common acne products. These products kill the friendly bacteria on your face, and your skin cells. Since the acne bacteria hides in your skin cells, mass killings releases the bacteria and the lack of normal flora allows for opportunistic acne bacteria to flourish. I use Dr. Bronners magic soap (liquid), pretty much the best soap ever. Find it Trader Joes, Whole Foods or healthy food markets everywhere. I've also seen it in Vons (Pavillions).

Finally, use a towel over your pillowcase and change it daily. This will prevent the build up of dirt, oil, dead skin, and acne bacteria on a surface you rest your face against for hours every night.
