Also by not saying "Yeah, it was a great time. We went snowboarding all day in the mass amounts of powder snow from the blizzard the other night."---and this sentence is being said with no pauses/accents/.
Change it to:
"Oh my god....it was such a...(look of trying to find the tremendous sensation it was) ...GrrREAT time. We went snowboarding allllll day in freaking MASS(emphasize) amounts of powder snow from the blizzard the night before."
If i were to say it the 2nd time with hand motions...even slightly exaggerated facial expression to try to really convey the exact emotion felt...strong eye contact 100% of the time..or is there a better way?

As for your voice, you want to keep it lower rather than higher.
As for gesticulation, either slower than most people or below the waist. You don't want to cross over your chest much at all.
As for pausing, for effect is fine... but remember that if you pause too long you look like you can't remember shit.. and pausing too short means your stuttering. Use them carefully.
Remember, in a conversation you want to appear exciting and interesting, NOT excited and Interested. There is a huge difference. A little excited is okay... just don't over-do it. (This is one of my big sticking points.)

As soon as you realise you are getting excited you tend to feel the effect it has on your set and it generally doesn't work for you if it is a lasting excitement, so try for just "Oh! This is so cool, I really like it!" and then back to normal. Just a short burt of excitement sometimes will show people that you aren't a robot and you do have emotions, but if you get too wrapped up in it, then they will get bored. Same thing goes for hand gestures, don't be waving your hands all over the place, but a gesture for dramatic effect here and there is good.

If your listening to music and the artist is singing the entire song in one note it wouldn't be good, but if you spoke in different notes, high then low then medium then high, people will be more adapt to listen. However wouldn't concentrate too much in this because it's only about 10% of communication.
