I need to increase the volume at which I talk to people, many times I am asked to repeat what I say because I speak to quietly. Is there any way I can change this so that I can increase the volume at which I speak without seeming as though I am yelling?

Yes, not a problem you just need to speak with more force and more volume. Basically you will want to take a very deep breath before approaching and speak from your diaphram much like a singer does to project their voice. One way to get good at this is an exercise with a basic tape recorder or if you have an application on your computer to do it that works too. Take a few steps back and speak. Then take a few more back and speak. Play the tape back and see how soft you sound. Now work to project your voice past where the recorder is. Keep standing back until you are across the room and can be heard clearly without you yelling.

I want to expand on this response a tiny bit. While "speak from your diaphragm" is accurate advice it's not particularly helpful as we can't physically perceive the diaphragm - only its effect. The actual physical sensation of an engaged diaphragm is that everything in your abdomen feels like it's being pushed straight down toward your pelvic floor. Sounds gross but... it's the same feeling as a BM.

A hugely important point though - the engaged diaphragm MUST be coupled with increased space in the pharynx (back of the throat) or it'll sound like you're grunting/constipated. To compound that fact, if you are new to vocal training you probably haven't developed good muscle tone in the throat which means that when you increase the space in your pharynx your voice will likely sound foggy and unclear. There are a whole set of exercises that can help with that if you're interested.

Heres a quick tip on how to speak clearly and dominate and find your true voice. When you speak, speak into a mirror to watch yourself and keep saying a sentence over and over again at different tones. You will find your natural tone when you feel a deep vibration on your upper chest near your throat. Now stay around that tone from now on (I say around because you don't want to sound like a corny one toned person)

girls love my voice when I talk to them and so on, one of my main factors of picking them up
