Hi, I want to dye my hair, possibly using two different colours (red and possibly blue). I don't want it to be too over the top. My current style is 2 back and sides and trimmed short on the top. I usually apply a little gel to stick the front up but am open to other ideas (appart from a faux mohawk which I don't suit).

Without seeing you and shape of your head it's hard to say... I also wanted to brighten my hair...

You forgot to mention the most important part, your hair color! If we don't know your hair color so who knows. If you have blonde and its soft I'd recommend going like J-dawg (A PUA) it fits him if that's your style.

Then if your hair is black I'd go with blue. Either frost the tips or do a line on one side of your head. I know it sounds straight but it looks great. I'd go with frosting the tips if you spike it with a messy look.

If you are going to do something like that you should consider 2 things:

1. Your overall look - What you are suggesting might really only work if you have a punkish/gothic look. Also works well with a bad boy image. If you are really preppy then it will look bizarre.
2. The type of girls you are trying to pick up - Pretty self explanatory I think.

I would say pick only 1 color, blue or red ...not both. I personally liked M15's suggestion about frosting your hair blue (if you have dark hair) and spiking it up. That actually looks decent and not over-the-top.
