Then when it started growing back the natural colour (light brown) it looked gross and I had to wait months and months for it to grow back to the length I like it so that when I cut off the black it looked ok. After I cut it there were still black tips left on the end of my hair in some places. And I liked the length all over so I decided to dye it dark brown to get rid of the black and have it all the same colour. But my hair was so damaged that it all ended up black again!! Gah help please this is a nightmare. Thanks.

But there is a valueable lesson in all this, go to a professional.

What it entails, I have no knowledge of, but it made her hair look gorgeous once it had been re-dyed to her natural colour.
I suggest going to a classy hairdressers (E.G Toni & Guy etc) and talking to them about it and your options. They'll know the best things to do.
Hope it helps,
Dro

Yes it is expensive and yes it is time consuming, the only problem is that your hairs going to be too short for them to work on. Like I said, let it grow out a little bit and then buzz it back down.
