OK, I have really fat cheeks and so I was thinking of growing my hair quite long, but will this make my face look more in proportion.

Also, what kind of hair products is best for longish hair?

Thanks guys

Do you think you could pull off tall spiky hair?

Try having long hair in spikes/mohican whatever works for you then keeps the sides and back shortish and tidy.

This should add length to your face and can look really cool. I used to wear it like that but i have quite a thin defined face so I can't comment too much on that.

Alternatively, go to a high price salon and say what you just said. When they give a reply say you'll be back later and go to a lower end barbers.

I think long spikes with very short sides could look cool for you though.

I would try a cut that creates more volume vertically rather than just long and comes down to your shoulders. This will elongate your face and take the focus of the width. Stylists have a great eye for hair and know what works on different faces. They are trained to down-play and play-up features using shaping techniques so ask your stylist and she will give you some professional insight.

How tall are you?
Long hair looks best on taller guys. Short guys with long hair, end up looking shorter. Your hair should be proporionate to your frame. There are products that will help you grow your hair quicker as well.

Blinkant: There are websites you can go to where you can upload your pic and it will show you what you look like with different haircuts. The girl that works for me does it all the time. If i find out the site I will be sure to post it.

Not to highjack the thread but....
The question is for Bonita and FOF. My hair is unmanagable when it is longer than 2 inches. So I get it striaghtened, then it looks amazing. I use product that stiffens my hair like a helmet. Its pretty much wind resistant. Do women like hair that looks nice, but if they touch it, its rock hard? Or should i use the product that leaves it nice and soft, but doesnt look nearly as clean?

Suggestions?

Hmm that seems like a catch-22. On one hand you want girls to think your hair looks nice. On the other hand, the goal is to get girls to run their hand through your hair.

This past weekend I met a guy who's hair was nice and in place well but felt hard bc of his styling products (i.e. your situation). I couldnt run my hands through his hair and i didn't really want to because it wasn't soft. So for me personally, I would rather have a guy with soft hair.

I wouldn't rely soley on your hair attracting a girl. While it is part of the package, a girl is not going to be attracted to only your hair. I suggest you style it with less products but still a way that makes you feel confident and good about yourself--because if you don't like your hair, it will show.

Practically, try a volumizing shampoo to add structure and life to your hair, and some conditioner (i dont know why guys dont use this!!). Instead of using a product that makes your hair really hard like a paste or gel, use mousse instead (on wet hair--and dont rub it through your palms--it deactivates it). Hairspray also holds well but isn't as hard as gel.

If you want long hair, try doing it swept back like Tyler Durden style. If your hair is dark, this looks even better!

Now just beware that this doesn't take car of the fat cheeks. For that, you need to grow your sideburns. Not super long like 'That 70's Show'-type sideburns, but big enough to "frame" the sides of your face. Once again, dark sideburns work better, it has a bit of a slimming effect.

As for me I have skinny cheeks and short hair, but I've seen guys pull this off. I myself like to have sideburns. If you're losing your hair, shave it off.
