I have analysed the behaviour of a friend of mine that is very alpha. I broke the biggest secret down to this:
High expectations
Thats it, this guy always have a slightly higher expectation of you than you actually live up to. In order not to look like a loser you end up proving yourself to him over and over. All done in a friendly way. Like so:
"Well, Ill let you decide on the wine, after all, you know about these things" And then get disappointed when it is not great. or:
"What do you thing, you are after all the expert of blah blah"
The guy gets disappointed all the time and you feel awful for it... Terribly alpha!
