During my studies this past summer reading various pickup books I've learned to eliminate the words like, uh, um, and you know from my vocabulary. I read and have learned to not say these things because it makes you sound more clear about what your saying. You sound more certain and confident during your conversations with people. I still do catch myself saying these words sometimes but I've noticed the powerful effects this has on people when your speaking.

I've noticed most people out there use these words quite often when I speak to them. Try to remember this and give it a shot. It will help you trust me. You will also start to pickup on how much other people use these words and you realize how uncertain of themselves they sound.

Another addition to this — as I struggled with it for awhile.

It is MUCH better to speak slowly, deliberately, and clearly rather than fast, trying to cram it all in at once.

Watch public speakers. They speak VERY SLOW if you are timing them.

It provides you with time to think about what you say, without breaking your flow, and it is much better to speak intentionally than when you have to pause and fill in the space with "um... uh... etc."

Women can do this too, especially like, with like, the word like, LIKE etc. Although I haven't been with a valley girl in a long time!

Diction is huge when it comes representing a good mate. This also means adopting a larger vocabulary that can be unusual and memorable, this will make you far more interesting and interesting is more often than not attractive.

Sort of, Kind of, maybe, are also words of people who aren't confident. It's also important to remember it isn't always what you say but HOW YOU SAY IT.

"I uh made umm something like a million last year. Yeah, that sounds right."

"Yeah I made somewhere in the ball park of a mill last year."

Same sentence but one is an obvious lie. It really doesn't matter what you say to a woman (and I've said some wicked shit) as long as you say it right.

What and how you say things does change through out the courtship process of course.

Agreed. When I wrote essays at uni I always used to record myself reading them out loud and listen back to them so that I could make sure the sentence structure was good (because sometimes when you're reading it you don't pick up on things you've written yourself).

I was shocked by how slowly you can speak and not sound stupid. I always knew I naturally spoke quite fast, so in public deliberately slowed down my speech. But even this slowed down version was not ridiculously slow.

I'd advise recording yourself speaking and listening back to it - play around with it. Try speaking almost painfully slow in your head, listen back to it and you might realise that actually it isn't all that slow and is probably a better pace to be speaking at anyway!

I started podcasting myself, and then listening to me speak afterwards.

I immediately noticed all the "um" "uh..." and even all the extra "fuck" and "mother fucking" and "mother fuckers" I drop in my sentences without really thinking about it.

Nothing wrong with a good Fuck, Mother Fucking this or Mother Fuckers here and there, but maybe not every sentence LMFAO.

So, hearing myself back I have definitely gotten more in tune with those poor speaking habits and made improvements there.

Also, having a good vocabulary has helped my ONLINE game TREMENDOUSLY.

I cannot tell you how many girls I've been able to get into after some email banter who all say the exact same thing "I've never met a guy with such a unique vocabulary, yet creative and totally smart assed too!"

I have been having a nice long email banter with a Doctor who is currently out of town but coming back later this summer. She really digs the fact that I can have an intelligent conversation with her.
