So at the rype old age of 24 its finally time to grow up and dress like a big boy....
I like to make new years resolutions, I make one every year and almost always stick to it. My most proud resolution was when I was 16 i made a resolution to never drink pop again, and to this day I havent had so much as a single can.
This year however, i'm failing. My resolution was to dress better and generally up the anty on my looks. The decision came after thinking about some my last two long term girlfriends have told me after we had dated for a while: "your not a bad looking guy but you could be so much more if you'd just dress better, not wear the same 3 t-shirts all the time, get a proper haircut, take care of your basic hygeine etc etc etc."
My usual clothing is jeans and a band t-shirt, particularly punk bands, which no doubt make me look quite immature and are defidently not an appeal to any women outside of that culture. Its not all bad though. I am decently good looking, maybe a 7, naturally, I am in very good shape and i'm decently tall about 6' (180cm) broad shoulders muscular jaw, very manly looking. In the past friends have told me I look like: a cop, a military comando, an ape, a cavemen, you get the picture. But I think all in all its not a bad look. This year 3 of my closest friends get married, and I'm the best man at two, so I'll have to purchase a suit soon (never put one on in my life) so thats already taken care of, but I'm looking for advice on something more casual.
So heres what I need:
I need clothes that I can wear to school (i'm a poli sci grad student), to work (basic customer service job, no uniform, i've been wearing my jeans and t-shirt there) and out to bars on the weekends to pick up women (or try). Basically I'm looking for something thats not too far out there. Casual clothing but more grown up then jeans a rock t-shirt that would be appropriate at all 3 venues. I know absolutley nothing about brands or styles or types of clothing so please try to be specific or even provide links as i'm completely ignorant.

Some of my tips:
Go out and find some stores you may be interested in. Some of the more "Expensive and classy" stores include: Guess, David Bitton, Calvin Klein, Armani, Gucci. *Note, these stores are pricey. However, they make very nice jeans. Check out the websites.
Find jeans that fit. Don't wear baggy jeans and don't wear skin tight jeans. Find that "right pair." Find something more than just a light blue colour. Grey, black, dark washed, some rips (although not too many). Hell, khaki's can work if used properly.

Definatly need to lose the band t-shirt thing. Find some more plains t-shirt or ones that are more classy. Small logo, not large obtuse logo's. Make them fit, not baggy t-shirts with rips. If you say you're fit than a tight t-shirt should look excellent. I'd suggest similiar brands and look into Ralph Polo, Lacoste, Diesel, etc.

Find a decent pair of shoes. No more "skate shoes." (Not sure if you wear them..).

Honestly, it's hard to define style. You can peacock like a Mystery or you can find classy clothes that work for you. Hell, maybe you enjoy more "punk clothing" that you find at stores like garage. Maybe there's preppy stuff at American Eagle or Abercrombie that suits you. I've seen guys wear an American Eagle shirt that doesn't make them look like they hit finished High School (I'm talking late 20's here). Every store has clothing that'll suit you, just gotta look for them. Hit the mall, go into some of the stores and look around. Don't look for bargain deals or clearance items. If you want to make a statement, you're going to need to spend a bit of money. Same goes for the haircut and personal grooming.

It's alittle pricey but since you're not out-growing your clothes they should last you a fair bit of time.

you don't have to go for calvin Klein and Armani.

For a guy like you that is a waste of money, just buy a fashion magazine like GQ, try to get a taste of fashion and go for plain t-shirts with a nice v-neck, just make sure you don't buy cheap ass shit like H&M, when buying clothes feel the texture of the clothing to check the quality.

Go for nice and simple clothes (not too dark) and some leather brown shoes.
