Genuine question for you: What is it about Affliction gear that is worth the price to you? I know a lot of community guys use that brand as an example of being "try-hard", or spending the money just because of the supposed value. I'd like to know what about Affliction shirts (or jeans or whatever) makes them worth the extra $$ over others similar

Abercrombie (at least in the past, not sure about now) used to sell great shirts that would last a long, long time. Guys (10 years ago) would get on them about "ripping off" the masses and getting away with it because they were trendy. But I've still got some A&F shirts from then that are just now starting to wear down to workout gear

Also relevant, until recently I bought "loose" style jeans from Old Navy, Gap, AE, etc... Recently I got some more form-fitting ones (Calvin Klein, Buffalo) from Burlington Coat Factory. First of all, YES they have made a huge difference, and I'm not a small or skinny guy. Secondly, BCF had them for half or more off, so I got $80-120 jeans for $40-50

For me, its the fit and the style.

I think the community has a valid point in that alot of AFC guys are wearing Affliction, and soon, it'll be played-out. But if you were to use this example, you would never be able to wear anything that was in style. Eventually people are gonna catch on to new fashions and wear it to death. The difference is how you wear it. If you are truly AFC, no brand of clothing is gonna hide it. I've heard some guys say that wearing expensive clothes gives them more confidence. I dont see how but if it works, more power to em'.

Also, there are alot of community guys who think that if you arent wearing a furry cowboy hat with goggles and painted nails, you are behind the curve or AFC.

But for me, its the fact that its in style and comfortable.

Thats one of the main reasons I never got into A&F. I hated the fact that their shirts and jeans seemed pre-worn and that the collar felt so damn stretched out.

I wear AE and Hollister alot and i know that alot of other guy's wear it, and my reason for wearing it is not at all to fit in, i don't care about that. I know that wearing other types of clothes (pacific sunwear, hot topic type stuff) would stand out more and be better for peacocking but the reason that i don't wear anything like that is because ITS NOT ME. that is all anyone has to worry about. like Madals was saying, its how it fits your personality.

I'm in first year university, everyone here is doing their own style, in their own world. one thing I have realized though is this: 95% of people are wearing fitted clothes, not tight but fitted. very rarely do I see someone who's clothes are 2 sizes to big.

i don't think the brand matters at all. yeah, all my clothes are name branded ONLY because I can't find the same styles, colors, details in cheaper stores.

as long as you have a t-shirt that says the right things, is attractive and doesn't offend people, you'll be fine.

one great brand to demonstrate this, and even though it may be worn by a few people, it makes them stand out is ed hardy. i have a few tshirts, and a hat from them, which totally attract attention and say the right things.
