No, seriously, they always look strange, I can use whatever gel I want... perhaps I should get a really really strong one, but they all say they're strong, but they all aren't. But thanks for the input, I'll try to put some more effort in styling my hair from now on!
I noticed this. I used to use gel, but it leaves your hair unmanagaeble if you can't get the desired style you want, and when the gel breaks down, your hair looks shite. Try switching to a matte effect wax. I use Fish Fingers Moulding Wax, you only need a little otherwise it overloads your hair, leaving it greasy looking (i've made this mistake a few times!
). Plus it smells strongly of coconut so that a bonus.
What i'm saying is wax will make your hair look thicker, and not loaded with product, and you can re-work it if if messes up. Essentially you're hair will look 10x better for not using gel.

It takes time to develop a good wardrobe with complimenting items, so don't feel like you're trying and failing. You're learning what looks good with what, and what items don't suit you personally.
