Hi guys
I have realized I dont know how to dress.
Today I went to Ross (sorry cant afford better stores) to buy pants and shirts and didnt know what to buy
Can you let me know?
Right now this is the kind of clothes that I wear

would tight jeans look better on me? should they be very tight (stick to my legs) or tighter than what I am wearing now, but not too tight? what color?
what about those jeans that look faded? like some parts are faded, some parts are not?
what about shirts? what color? with stripes or solid color? what about those button things that they put on the shoulders of some shirts? yes or no?
do i tuck my shirt in or out?

I just need to know what would look good on me...went to the store and had no idea.
I am 5'5" about 140 pounds if that matters

I would say get some jeans, those cargo style pants are a bit baggy and the colours don't really go too well together.

Not sure about the store that you mentioned but in NZ where I'm from we have cheap mens stores that do a pretty good job of providing trendy clothes for a great price.

I wouldn't get super tight jeans and they feel uncomfortable for me, especially if you arn't used to wearing them. This also brings me to another point regarding the shirt tucked in our out.

You have to do what you are comfortable with. You seeming comfortable is going to be more attractive than if the girl prefers shirts to be tucked in or out.

Get some verticle striped shirts they will help you look a bit taller, also find a nice looking female staff member in the store to give you some ideas and opinions.

If you don't have good taste most likely she will have better taste than you and enjoy playing dress up since thats what girls do.

To be honest, the ins and outs of what you wear and how you wear them often don't matter. If you've got the attitude and confidence to pull something off, you can get away with most things (within reason).

Some general rules/tips that I live by though;

1) always go fitted. Your stuff on the pics look a bit baggy. I don't actually dislike the stuff you're wearing, I think the colours and that go alright, it's not something I'd personally wear, but it doesn't look bad at all. However, it is a bit baggy - don't go tight, but make sure your clothes are well fitted - top and bottom.

2) Colours are very individual. Make sure you know at least one colour that looks good on you. You can do some research online about what colours best go with your skin tone/eye colour/hair colour etc. etc. but you may just accidentally come across it as well. Think of a time that someone has told you they like your t-shirt or whatever. Chances are the actual t-shirt isn't anything special, it's the colour that went well with you. Buy a few more pieces in that colour.

3) Learn what colours go. A quick google search will do wonders here. From one outfit I can't tell how good your colour scheming is, but find out what colours go with what, it helps loads.

4) Finally, think about the whole outfit. When you're buying clothes, don't just see atop you like and buy it. Think about what it's going to go with - have you got some trousers/jeans it'll go with, have you got shoes that will go with the jeans and t-shirt. You don't have to spend a lot on this. I've got two blue pairs of jeans and one grey pair, which came to around £75 altogether, and then I have maybe one or two t-shirts, polos, or tops in about 3 different colours. Chuck in maybe another 3 or 4 shirts (I often wear an unbuttoned shirt on top of a tee), and a couple of jackets, and your wardrobe consists of maybe 14 or 15 pieces that you can rotate to make a massive amount of combinations. 14 or 15 pieces isn't that many, and doesn't cost that much to put together, especially as you've already got things to work with.

I had bad style too. The trick is to just find styles you like, look on clothing stores website and find a style one of their models where. Most models dress up like absolute idiots so obviously mix and match a bit.

H&M have a section on their website where you can dress up a male body and put clothes on him to see what clothes look good.

7000 seems to be spot on !
and about color try blue and yellow polo tees.
And then select ur shirts color wen .

Try to stuck in shirts nd only select them if they look good stuck in and not out.

And Try this formula:-
Fit. Fit.Fit.
But also remember there can be say 3 different size that fit on u.
make ur wardobe accn to that.
tailor made is better.

no baggy ,no slim and no 6ft men's ready made pants(need frequent iron otherwise it would look messy on u).

Loves to 7000, great advice.

I know what being broke is like. I get tons of great clothes at second hand stores, though. Try them on, at 5'5" 140, you're a bit smaller than me and my friends (6+, 180ish gym rats), but your clothes should compliment your frame. We typically go for a V look, try something that fits to your body -- not something that's loose all over.

My bit to add to this would be pay attention to how you're wearing your clothes. Do you have a jacket? If so I would undo two buttons on that shirt (no undershirt). I can't really tell what you're doing with your cuffs, but think about where you'll be. If you want to roll them up, make sure to do it properly. Italian style is where you pull the cuff up just past your elbow and roll the rest up till it's just below your elbow with a little bit of the cuff sticking out (Google some photos) and that's my personal favorite. I would leave at least the wrist button undone if you're keeping your sleeves out long.

Also, accessorize. Accessories can define your look. I usually go for a classy look with a watch, a wrist band I got in Italy and leather belt I got a steal on. You don't need to be rocking a Rolex to show off. Unless you're kicking it with I-Bankers and Lawyers, most people will be fascinated by a $100 Invicta you bought on sale at Newegg (I did that and I get at least 3 compliments every time I wear it out). But take 7000's advice about colours here, I wouldn't wear my gold and black watch with my green shirt, brown belt and brown shoes -- I'd wear my silver/blue (a great watch to wear all the time, $80 Citizen with blue back).

Above all else shoes. I am living in a hick town for the summer and I see so many people making so many style mistakes, but the biggest is shoes. Girls notice shoes. Go get yourself a decent pair of shoes (maybe you have some already?) and a belt to match them. Your belt should match your shoes. I see guys wear running shoes with dress shirts and it makes me cringe. Most guys don't pay attention to their shoes but most girls do.

Nice stuff comet. I agree very much with all of it (shoes bit especially, how I forgot to leave them out I do not know - very important as you say). But the point I'd just add to is on the small details of how you wear your clothes. I'm not going to argue with anything you've said because it's all good stuff, but just to supplement it, in paying attention to the little details of how you wear things you can 'peacock' far more subtly than having a big velvet hat on your head. For instance, I quite often wear my belt with the buckle pulled right over to one side. It's unnoticeable really, but it just adds a bit of a quirky element to it all which girls sometimes pick up on. An old Italian way is to have your watch on top of your shirt sleeve, which again, is largely unnoticeable but is just there and is just a bit different (certainly over in the uk where I've never seen anyone else do it). The examples of buttons you use is also a good one - if I'm wearing a tee shirt under my button up then I might have the top 2 or 3 buttons undone (as I'm sure most people would), but then I'll also leave the bottom one undone too. And maybe do the David-Beckham-esque one sided tuck as well.

These little things aren't going to make too much difference if you haven't followed the 'basics', but they are a great way to spice up an already fairly stylish outfit.

I'm also not very tall either, 5'7". When you're shorter, the main thing to remember is that you want to make everything seem streamlined. You want to create the illusion of height. Also, it's important to not wear something too baggy. Honestly, the clothes you have on are too big, wearing stuff that big will make you look about 5ft tall. If you're going to wear long pants, wear the darkest wash jeans you can find. If youre going to wear a button down shirt like that, I suggest some type of flannel but nothing too outrageously patterned as again you want to remain streamlined. Also, avoid shoes like trainers etc.
