Hey, for the past few months ive kind of hit a slow point in my game where im way below the level i use to be. One of my friends suggested I sometimes look a bit awkward when im talking too new people.

Can anyone offer me any pointers that i can take on board on how to look "less awkward".

Well it is tough to answer without you giving more specific details, however I truly believe that if you feel good and look good that just helps with your confidence which is about 99% of the game. If you are not comfortable in what your wearing your more prone to be "awkward" but I believe you need to be comfortable

Simple Answer: Fix your body language brother.

If you *LOOK* awkward as your friend suggests then its your non verbal communication that is a suffering. Since non verbal is 55% of human communication its kind of important. A lot of body language can come out subconsciously but you have to mentally control it.

Without observing you I cannot actually tell you what your doing wrong but I suggest that when your doing whatever your doing, try to keep your body language open: Keep your arms at your side and your legs open, don't let any of your limbs to cross your body at all. Subconsciously that is throwing up a barrier between you and whoever your talking to. Keep your head up and keep a smile on your face: a genuine smile not a fake one.

Why is this important? if your body stays in a certain position long enough you begin to feel that way. If you don't believe me, the next time you get extremely depressed/sad, raise your head up, take a deep breath, straighten out your back and smile: in no time you will suddenly begin to feel better.

Anyways hope this helped, gl luck brother

Yes this. Body language.

Look more confident, comfortable, more open and non-threatening.

Yeah to be more specific, widen your stance, widen and relax your shoulders, and lift your head(don't turtle it into your neck), your jaw should be parallel to the ground. And smile, think of the last time you laughed or when laughed hardest, whatever to induce a genuine smile as he commented. Keep your arms open, feet pointed out.

Only consciously do this if you are feeling awkward, it will open you up. Don't make yourself aware of doing this every interaction but when you are feeling out of place.

He's spot on body language goes both ways we stand how we feel and we feel how we stand.
