Leaning Back??

i keep hearing and reading that one should be Leaning back - away from the girl..

Im 6 foot 3, and most of my interactions with girls are in loud clubs.. so naturally im leaning my ear into them so they can talk into my ear or leaning in so they can hear me..

Can some one just clear this up for me? should i be standing straight up so they tiptoe and like pull themselves close to me ?

The leaning back thing is more when you are sitting down so you can physiclaly "pull back" from her. But I wouldn't do this in a loud club, maybe in a lounge or a bar that played music not so loud.
