StaceyJaxx nailed it, I would say go with the longer style and a styled just out of bed look, also VO5 extreme style rework fibre putty is hands down the greatest invention for mens hair. The best results I have found is by rubbing it between my hands then clapping them together, you will start to get fibres forming between your hands when you have lots put it on. Be careful not to put it all in one place though.

I tried the faux hawk after getting out of the shower once and I thought it actually looked good so I decided to do one with gel and videotape it. It wasn't with an official faux hawk haircut cut or styling products but I gave it a whirl. What do you guys think?

Here's a youtube video and some pics for better views.

It looks good imo, but thats irrelevent.
In those pictures ur smiling way more, you like it, you think it looks good.
Guess what, if you think you look good, your body langueage will improve, you will be more confident etc etc. If you think you look great, keep it!

YOU GOT IT! :)

Awesome friend, looks great - let your hair grow a little more on the top keep it tight on the sides and back of your neck, you'll love it more an dmore the longer it gets :) You'll know when its reached the perfect length for you.

... good job remembering to push the sides forward, try the surf hair product i told you about, it makes your hair look less shiney and hard the way gel can. and work the product from the back forward.

I'M SO PROUD :) YOU LOOK SO HAPPY!

Hey man.. looks good, but I think it should be a little longer though. Here is a picture of me with CLAY WAX (less shiny and more natural) which is what i usually use. You should try it out...

Thanks guys. I think this way of styling my hair makes me look older. The other way made me look childish. Lh, I'm interested in trying a style like that but I'm not sure how to go about styling it. Being a college kid, I think the messy just-rolled-out-of-bed look might work but I don't know the mechanics that go into styling it. Stacey, I want to maintain my eyebrows and I'll do whichever technique looks best. What should I look for in a threading place? Should I only go to places with Indian stylists? or old and experienced stylists? I have seen some people with horrible eyebrows and it really made their whole face look bad. That's why I want to make sure whoever does mine knows what they're doing.

Is there a preference between VO5 extreme style rework fibre putty, Clay Wax, and Surf Hair?

Well, every product is different. I've never heard of VO5 extreme style or Surf Hair, but from I've googled VO5 looks gelly (which i personally don't like) and so does Surf Hair. Surf gives you a dry look though (from what I've read on Garnier's website).
Anyway, clay wax is also referred to as mud (not real mud :D ).. Here is the one I use.

However, it's totally up to you which one you prefer. You should try out different stuff and find the gel/wax that fits you (and that you like working with - I can't stand running my fingers through gel!)

For a new guy... wax can be over complicated and if you use too much you're screwed for the day! it can also make your hair look greasy...

Surf hair, is $4, and I personally use it - its bangin'

It's up to you - try both. Wax and Pomade are not in my vocabulary :)

You'll be ok with threading, the indian culture - has a super high respect for men in general, so they'll do what you ask them and they REALLY listen - if you say "I just want them cleaned up - don't thin them" they wont.

If you go to an asian nail salon, you'll come out with eyebrows that look like papercuts hahaha

Anywhere should be ok for threading, its a SUPER specific way of shaping eyebrows, much like tweezing but less painful.

i've been gelling my hair since i was like 9 lol the key is to just experiment.. if you keep doing it different ways you will see for yourself what makes you look good and what's not good.

also if you feel like putting products in your hair looks not right then you can straighten it. i have quite short hair like you and it still works but i only do it occasionally because it takes like 10 minutes

dax wax is good for really extreme styles but its really nasty stuff to wash out and sticky but can get some crazy spikes going :)... well.. have fun

yeye it gets annoying its true. its a bit overkill with very short aswell... only becomes handy when you are controlling hair that is too long to spike with normal gel/clay

i'm probs starting to sound a bit homo now so ill stop lol

So I got my eyebrows did. I did the threading and I'm really pleased with it. It's not much of a difference but it's a little better for my face. A Turkish lady at the jcpenny salon did them for me. It was $17.50 youch but I know some places do it for $10. Here are some pics for those who are interested. You can look at earlier pics to compare.
